    From Mat Back to PNP

Has anyone ever moved a child back to the pnp after being on a mat-like after about 9 months. 2 of mine are having a horrible time taking naps and just talk, talk, talk keeping others awake. I can't move them anywhere else though because one day when I tried putting one in the livingroom they had everything off my side table because I was having to go back and forth between the two rooms. Both of them are 3.

If I put them back in the pnp I could at least leave them in other rooms because they would be contained. Its getting to the point I'm literally with the dcks 10 hours a day because of no break at nap. I can't even leave to grab lunch because they will wake everyone up.

Nope but I bought a playard (the large octogonal type) and if I have a problem child, they will nap in that.

Yes, I have an almost 2 yo who was on nap mat for about a month and wouldn't stay on it, she was back in a pnp, and several months later is just now back on a nap.

Yep, I would set up their regular nap mat, and state that if anyone is foolish enough to get up, then clearly they are not ready for a "big girl/big boy" bed, and they will go into a baby bed. Have a pnp ready, and very simply and without ceremony say "well, looks like you blew your chance today...have a nice nap (in here).

I would be a little afraid of climbing out, but I have sleep sacks for all mine to prevent that little trick. I'd have one of those ready, too.

I just don't mess around with that stuff. I am really, really, not a tough guy for the most part. But, I am very protective of my break time. The quickest way for me to burn out would be to loose that.

I did and I would do it again....

These kids need their rest. I have a few kids that if they don't nap, the rest of us pay for it later...Therefore EVERYONE naps one way or another...

If the state came and I had a 3 yr old in a pnp they would call it restraint and I would be in big trouble.

I seperate talkers and will sit and stare at them. They close their eyes fast that way

You know, I hadnt thought of that, but if that is truly the case, a pnp would always be a restraint, no matter the age. I guess I'd consider it a gray area...ok for sleeping, not ok for time out?

I would put them back in, some kids just do better in a conformed area. Like my own dd has a million stuffies on her bed, she loves that fact that they crowd her. Also, I feel safer in a pnp than anything else.

I have never put a child back into a pnp but if it works for you then thats great. I totally understand the need for a naptime break from the kids. They need there rest and we need the break. I have been very lucky in my six years of providing dc, only a handful of instances where they did not fall asleep, or kept others up and trust me those situations where quickly resolved. The only thing I would worry about is them climbing out.
Children need to know that we mean business whe it comes to nap time! I would think it would be restraint if they were sitting in a pnp for time out but not for a nap. I guess every state is diffrent.

Every state is different and every license rep is different. Here it would be the age thing. Only you know what your rep would say. If any questio just ask they will tell you.
