To carry a first aid kit and the paper work necessary when transportation DCK for school pickups/drop offs or for field trips? I have been given, the opportunity to change the way I used to do this.

I always carry a first aid kit in my car; and I've recently added a document onto my phone that carries all of the emergency info I need (including the scanned version of the emergency consent forms). Since my phone is always in my possession, this info is right at my fingertips at all times!- Flag

I like this idea, will not work for me right now I do not have a smart phone. We might get them later still not sure it is worth the $30 a month for the

I am currently looking for a daycare daily report app (all the free ones I've found so far are geared for moms; not daycare providers). And I would also love love love it if Minute Menu Kids also developed a full version app. Right now MMK has an app, but it's only for the providers that participate in the Food Program, which I don't.- Flag

In maryland you are required to have a first aid box with you at all times, instead of taking it back and forth to the house and car, I have one for both. I have a flimsy binder that slips into the side of my first aid box that has all the emergency info/cards/contact info. I use the plastic sheet protecters to slip everything into. In Maryland they suggest you keep all the childrens emergency info in the first aid box, since everyone who transports is required to have a first aid box, that would be the first place to look for emergency cards.- Flag

I said the same thing for a long time; that the smart phone wouldn't be worth the data plan charges. I finally caved in and got a Droid smart phone; and let me tell you... I don't know what I did without it! It's been great for various business uses; like keeping emergency contact info, and using educational apps/games for the kids. There is seriously an app for almost anything!

OP~ I use an emergency contact card for each child. I laminate them and keep them on a caribiner clip for easy access. I can clip them to my belt loop or to my stroller or where ever. The cards I use are small enough (3x5 index card size) that they are easy to grab and reference quickly if necessary. I even print out a small photo of the child to put on the card.- Flag

In NY we are required to have an emergency bag. I use a backpack. It has a first aid kit, slippers for every child, blankets, jackets, diapers & wipes, bottles, formula, hand sanitizer, tissues, and copies of the kids emergency cards (I actually store the kids files right in the backpack to avoid having to photocopy everything). The backpack comes with us wherever we go- Flag

I also have a backpack/first aid kit. I store it in my house, never in my car. I don't even store my Insurance and Registration in my car. Everything is in my wallet all of the kids stuff is in a small 3ring binder in my backpack. It also carries water, wipes and diapers. NOt too forget food snacks. Just in case we were to have get stuck or break down, I have something for them to eat and drink....- Flag

It is stored on a shelf in the coat closet in the living room. The reg. says it must be out of reach of children but accessible at all times. If it wasn't so darn heavy I'd hang it on a hook on the back of the door, but there isn't a hook alive that could hold this thing!- Flag

Thank you everyone for your input and ideas.
I have purchased a fannypack, in it I have placed a first aid kit, and a copy of the documents I need to have when on a field trip or transporting the
children. I have placed it on a hook above where the children hang thier backpacks, this is also right by the front door. I will take it with me anytime
we go somewhere even the park only 4 blocks away (something I was not doing under my old system).
I am still considering placing some additional iteams in the under storage of the van. The only additional things I can think of that we would need is a snack, and some watter.- Flag
