DS Is Sick Now After DCG Came Sick All Week

It was bound to happen and will in the future I am sure but this is why I don't take care of sick kids. So others don't catch it. DS has had a high temperature all weekend (between 103-104) and I took him to the pediatrician yesterday and she said he has a virus. He has been beyond miserable and crying constantly. We have gotten a total of 7 hours of sleep in the last two days.

I let my part time DCF know last night that he is ill and she said to let them know how he is today and they will decide if they were going to bring dcg. I also told the family of dcf that was sick all week and she hasn't said anything to me yet. She did say dcg still has a runny nose and one loose diaper but otherwise seemsto ok.

My DH is going to try and stay home tomorrow if kids are coming to help but won't know if he can until tomorrow morning. He is in the military and they are rolling into an exercise this week and next. I don't know if I can handle my sick kid and two other kids by myself if they come tomorrow. And its a 13 hour day if they do. Basically I'm at a loss of whether or I should just close and let them both know tonight or **** it up. I am going to feel really bad if my DS is miserable and trying to play tomorrow with dcg. He nerds his rest

I already responded to this one on your other thread.

Rest up because if you don't take care, you'll have it next.

    Thank you "dear" DC Family.

If your son is going to be needing you for comfort and care, I would close. When my daughter was younger, I usually closed when she was ill so that I could devote my time to her and because she was too young to tell her to stay in her room away from dck's. Now she is in elementary school so, depending what she has, I sometimes just have her stay upstairs when she is sick. It sounds like your son got it from dcg who was sick all week at your home so it would serve them right if they do not have care for her this week since their child shared her germs with your son.

This is honestly a part of the reason I am closing my in home daycare in a couple weeks to work at my church. I have always disliked opening my home to all the germs other families would bring in. I know my kids are exposed to it all at school, but I still feel bad when a dck comes with a cough and boogers and then my dd gets it and ends up on the nebulizer again. She may very well have gotten it at school, but I am can never be sure. I am sorry that the parents in your case did not do the right thing and keep thier child home. This is a really stinky part of doing care in our homes. I hope your son is better really soon!

Sorry you have a having a hard time of it OP. Tighten up your sick policy, enforce it and things will be a lot better in the future. This winter there has barely been any sickness amongst all of the kids (knock on wood) and I am careful about enforcing sick policy. I have a smaller group too so I can separate a child that is appearing sick but not bad enough to send home. At least that way they are not mouthing all the toys

Both kids are coming tomorrow and DH will stay home to be with DS. PT daycare mom says she is going to try and get off early so DS can restby himself which is very sweet. I know she wouls MUCH rather be home with her DD so she is happy for the "excuse".

However toddler DCGs parents didnt so much as express sympathy for him being sick despite it was because they ignored my policy that he is sick. It is my fault too though for not enforcing it. You live and learn though and you can bet I wont feel bad for turning away sick kids in the future. I hate seeing DS like this.

Fever is still in the 101s-102s with fever reducing medicine alternating every 4 hours and he cant breathe at all from his nose unless I do saline and suction often. And lots of baby vicks!! He is so raspy his big cry has turned little now

I feel horrible that I have to go to bed very soon to be up at 4:45 and I cant be up with him. And my house looks like a tornado blew through because I have had barely any chance to clean and organize like normal. Well, it isnt THAT bad but not near where I have it on a regular basis.

Ok, I am rambling now. But I thank everyone for being my sounding board for this crazy week. Have a wonderful Monday!!!
