Pooping During Naptime And Falling Back Asleep?

This is the second time its happened this week. Dcg goes down right when she gets here (530) and I let her sleep as long as she wants. Usually she only sleeps for an hour or two and then she is fresh to have breakfast and play on the same schedule as everyone else. She has been sick this week though and slept 5 hours on Wednesday.

Anyways, today I was getting my ds dressed and hears dcg stirring over the monitor. She coughed a few times and then went back to being quiet. I finished getting ds dressed and got him in his highchair for breakfast and I walked toward the bedrooms and got to the hallway andI could smell poop. I checked on dcg and she is back to being asleep. I said her name just in case she was half awake and nothing.

So my question is, do you wake them or wait until they get up? She doesnt get rashes so I dont have to worry about that but I just feel bad. Shes been asleep for 4.5 hours despite how bright it is in there now and how much noise we are making out here.

If I knew a child was sick and exhausted, no I would not wake them to change a poopy diaper. she is sleeping so it does not bother her that much. I might be in the minority but almost all of the parents I work with would rather their child be well rested and just sleep in a dirty diaper if need be on occasion. A lot of parents change as minimally as possible anyway, stretching each diaper for hours (that part I do not do!)

Ugh I hate when this happens! I do change my daughter when this happens because she does get rashes. She also falls back to sleep very quickly once she is changed. I make sure the wipes are nice and warm so they don't shock her awake. Lol. I haven't had this happen with the day care kiddos yet. Sorry it turned out so poopy for you. YUCK!

I have a dck who does this and she always gets rashes. I change her right before nap and right after. I have a camera on her so I know if she is awake but quiet which happens a lot so then I can go in and change her right away. I cover her with lots of rash cream but otherwise I can't do much about it since most of her poops don't even smell, hard to tell she has even gone sometimes.

I always change them as soon as I notice it even if they are napping, even if it's just a little pee. I wouldn't want to wake up in poo but then again I couldn't go to sleep in it. Also my current DCKs I check repeatedly all day because they are so used to sitting in dirty diapers at home they don't understand they should be clean and never tell me when they are sitting in it. 3 cases of MRSA on their bottoms (or the doctors) finally snapped this DCM into place and the kids bottoms have been better. Still not perfect but better. I worry the MRSA will flare up so I keep them clean as a whistle!
