Give her the number to the court and the Judges name. ::::

    THAT story would be hysterical....

Follow up to the Jury Duty post from before.

After TWO, yes, TWO appeals, my request to be excused has been denied yet again. They said that jury duty causes a financial hardship to anyone and it is not excuseable.

They offered me a deferrment to another date. I thought about purposely setting it up right over my vacation and telling them I couldn't but figured if they won't excuse based on me running daycare, the potential income loss and financial detrament it would put my family in, I highly doubt my reasoning for being out of state would be excused either.

I'm going to see my chiropractor later this afternoon. We have a great relationship. I'm hoping that he will write up a letter stating that I can not meet the requirements of jury duty because I can't sit or stand for long periods of time.

Gosh, I sure hope that works!!!

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I guess if anything and I do have to show up, it'll be only for one day. Lord knows no one wants me to determine their fate! ::::::

I can't really help you here. But I will say that I know the person that's in charge of sending and registering the people that show up to their jury duty summons and she says that more than 65% of the summons that get sent out don't even get answered (in our area anyway). An exmaple she gave was that people move and don't change the address on their drivers licenses so theres no way to teally know if they ever receved the letter in the first place. On top of that, they don't have the resources to go after and investigate all of the summons that aren't responded to. She sends out twice as many summons as is required in order to have enough people show up for the initial interview.

I've only been asked to go twice and was only able to get out if it once while using the "financial hardship" due to the fact that I did child care. The second time I used the same excuse I was denied but during the interview I said that I believed that CA should have a death-penalty and that I believed in an eye-for-an-eye and was not called back .

Having already denied two appeals, I'm sure they'll automatically deny a third.

My sister notified her local court that she was out of time. They just rescheduled it.

I've gotten out of it twice; I've just written a nice letter stating that '6 working families depend on me...'

Ironically, my dh has NEVER been summoned and he would LIKE to do it. Maybe I should send him in my place next time ::

That was how a provider friend of mine got excused too!

When asked if she believed in the American justice system she said "No, I think all police and government officials are dirty and crooked."

They NEVER called on her again.

I'm going to see if my chiropractor will get me out of it. I can't sit or stand for long periods of time due to chronic lower back pain.

If they don't accept that excuse, I'm totally using this one!!! ::::::

:::::: Okay so this will be the next excuse that I use.

I may even add an "And I think lawyers should be called LYARS" while giving the attorney the stink eye.
