All infants/toddlers in the Fall except one WWYD?

Sorry I'm a registered user but on my phone and the log in was acting up.

I'm losing a huge chunk of my group to kinder in the Fall and it's leaving me with 2 toddlers (age 2), 2 infants and a 4 yeard old. How would you approach activities/curriculum with only one preschooler?

I'm actually tossing around the idea of downsizing come the Fall so maybe suggesting to mom that a more academic preschool with more children the child's same age wouldn't be a bad idea come September.

What would you do? What do you do if you have one dck much older or much younger than the rest of you group? I've always had at least 2 in each age group so I've never dealt with this before.

Do you find that you have a problem with 2 and 4 year olds together?

My four year olds play really well with my 2 year olds and I dont have much problem with keeping them intertained. They even do really well with my 16 & 18month olds. Its my SAs that I have so many problems with keeping intertained! Thats why I am not taking any new SA!

They will probably play fine together; if you are worried, you could maybe keep the four year old up for twenty or thirty minutes of naptime and work extra on preschool and kindergarten skills, have a special cuddly reading time (of books that the younger crew wouldn't enjoy), play a board game with you, etc. During the rest of the day, I'm sure you can find lots of ways to let the 4 yo "help" you with the younger kids, that will make the big kid feel VERY special and VERY important.

Make sure to give the 4 yo a place he/she can escape to play with "big kid" things sometimes during the day, where the littler kids can't go. This way, he can work on big block buildings, etc, without always having to worry about the littler kids getting in the way.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!
