Is there any reason I should NOT let kids play with empty DVD cases?

I recently went through mine, put them all on hard drive & discs in a binder. I thought I would use construction paper to put letters & numbers where the picture is to make huge scrabble tiles. I have over 600.

I don't think it would be a problem but they could pinch fingers in them if they can open/close the cases.

I thought I would use clear packing type tape to seal them? The same I use for book repairs?

use them, I see no problem with them if they are sealed. Now I did seal some food boxes for my kids and they had no idea what to do with them.

Good idea - then you are good to go.

With the tape, I see no big issues.

My only concern is that they splinter when stomped... don't ask me how I know that.

It would be a great idea, until someone broke one. The splinters are sharp as Cat said.
