    Oh..By The Way.....

I have a dcm who is moving 50 miles away to a new job. Happy for her...sad for me as I love both her and her baby girl.

Had lots of interest in the spot. All the moms on my waiting list aren't in need right now, so I opened it up to new inquiries and got a ton of calls. I scheduled two interviews Monday night.

I happily signed up the second couple...I think they'll be a great fit.

First interview was a riot! She arrived 10 minutes early (grr..so rude) and walks in with her baby boy and her 4th grade son. The older one proceeds to march past me and check thing outs without so much as a "hi". Mom said nothing. I showed her around and she asked a few questions. Older boy is shaking the gate in the hallway that goes to my son's private rooms and demands I take it down so he can "go see"!! I tell him that area is off limits...so he pouts. He's 4th grade! Again, mom ignores the behavior.

DCM: How long do they nap?
Me: Two hours. They go down at 1PM.
DCM: So what time do they get up?
    Me: (thinks) Oh boy!

She stands in the middle of the playroom and says "I wanna bring him here, but it's too expensive...can you drop the price $20 a week?"
I tell her no...prices are set in stone. She grumbles under her breath and then announces
"Oh by the way....I'll need to bring him too (pointing at 4th grader) when school's out...so how much will that be?"

No mention of a school kid while on the phone!

I just smiled and told her I didn't have room for a school age kid. She acted like I was joking and kept telling me what the school schedule was etc.

I finally had to stop her talking and repeat ""I don't have room for a school age child!" I think it took a couple more seconds before she figured it out.

So then she says "I'll have this one start Monday then"

I had already told her on the phone I was interviewing several parents for the spot.

She wasn't happy when I said "Well like I said on the phone... I am interviewing another couple this evening too and I will decide which child I am taking in a day or two. I'll let you know" She left in a huff.

I was so pleased when I opened the door to couple number two and was met by a lovely young couple with a darling baby girl. The interview went very, very well and they signed up before they left!

    Takes all sorts!!!

I was reading this to my husband and when I got to the part about "can you lower the price $20", he said, "No, in fact, it just went up $20." ::

When I mentioned the name to my son, he said he knew her in high school and she was a pain in the rear then.......so it looks like things don't change. He was VERY glad I didn't take her as a client!
