Anyone ever built a sandbox around a tree? Did it kill the tree? Considering doing it but don't want to kill the LARGE pine tree it would be around.

Why would it kill the tree? When I worked at a centre we had two large maple trees in the sandbox and there were no issues. I think as long as you line the bottom with a weed proof liner that keeps ants out and lets water through it should be ok. I'm not a tree expert though!! -
I wouldn't be worried about killing the pine tree. I would be far more concerned with the sap and debris from the tree contaminating the sandbox.Comment
