    Yesterday Was Awesome

Last week I had posted about having to change plans to see my son participate in something for school and all the dcp were great about doing that-happyface.

Well, it turned out to be an awesome afternoon and evening. I surprised my son at his school to watch him. The look on his face was priceless when he saw me. Also, when he played his instrument I actually got very teary eyed because it was so beautiful to listen to and thinking that I could have missed it. He actually looked at me the whole time he played!

I was able to pick my other daughter up after school without all the little ones in the car. I went in and watched for a little bit on the project that she stays after to help with.

Had a dentist appt. (again-) but knew I wasn't rushed to get home to dck's! Was actually able to relax.

My dad and his wife came to visit! Surprised all my kids with this one. We went out to eat and had an awesome visit. My dad surprised my ods with a special gift that will be treasured for his whole life.

These are the kind of days I live for. I have a great group of parents right now that are on hands parents. The group is tough but the parents are great and help with whatever I ask with. Deep in my heart though I know my kids need their mama to be available for them all the time (not just afterschool). I think hubby and I are going to put in a five year(if not a little sooner) plan of starting to lean more towards a 1 income family or me working very part-time.

I know that is a tough situation. I would look over your finances asap and see where you can cut corners and maybe drop a daycare kid or two now. We have cut a lot of extras and may even be cutting cable and internet next (gasp!). We coupon, cut out our vacation for the summer and downsized our vehicles. I will be quitting daycare soon and working part time only and am so excited for this to be just in time for my oldest to start school and I can be there for all the events and such. I hope you can get things worked out and get there soon too! We definitely are not rich by any means....barely middle class I would say and my husband has been in the same job (with no promotions) for about 8 years. Living on one income is hard these days.

I did work doing childcare part-time for about 3 years or so, had built up to this from doing childcare fulltime for 13 years. Then the economy got us. My hubby's company closed and he had worked there 16/17 years! We were basically starting all over-. Even though we trimmed and consolodated and did everything we could we still need the two incomes right now. He did find a job right away but its going to take 10+ years for him to get back to what he was making when the company closed.

Going back to fulltime childcare was hard but we've mad it. I can tell you I have seen the change in children though from when I did do it fulltime 3 years ago. Also, I know there is a big difference in children that are in childcare fulltime compared to strictly parttime children. I have seen it firsthand.
