    My Winter Babies

We've had a few threads lately about outdoor play, and I just wanted to share a couple of pics of my kiddos playing outside today.

I know it's sometimes hard to get them all geared up, it takes some time, there are meltdowns, and heck, I even break a sweat doing it. But I just feel that outdoor play and fresh air are SUCH an important part of childhood, that it makes it worth it. lovethis

I timed myself today, and it took 11:48 minutes to get everyone dressed and out the door. (I have 5 today)

It was just around 30 degrees..and we were out there for over an hour.

They came in, ate like champs, and are now all peacefully sleeping.

I just wanted to share how stinkin' cute they are.

These are my little guys....11 and 12 months old.

So cute!!! It's funny how weather is so relative to where you live. We might get snow every other winter. A day like in your pictures, is one we would avoid like the plague. It would be unheard of to take kids out in that around here. I'm not picking on you for doing it... it's the norm where you live, and the kids should get used to being out in it. I'm just saying how it's funny what people in different regions see as tolerable weather-wise.

      Cute pictures!! Thanks for sharing.

And today was just a dusting. Normally we have 4 to 5 feet on the ground this time of year!

I would love it if we had snow! We are getting more rain this weekend and all next week I believe. Thats the problem, everything is wet, muddy, slippery, and just not fun. All the play equipment stays wet and my fear is a child slipping on it and getting hurt. Oh well, I think we will try going outside next week and see how it goes.

I love the sock monkey hat. Did someone make it. we went for a walk and went to the park. So my almost 1 yr old is a good walker, but she is really petite, and its a bit windy outside so the wind kept knocking her over but she kept laughing because she thought it was funny.

We haven't been outside in a couple of weeks...normally we are out a few hours a day in the winter....all day except lunch in the summer. Its killing me to be inside...I get very antsy.

Instead of a deep freeze & tons of snow for Jan/Feb, we have had rain and temps in mid 30s- high 40s...today is suppose to get to 50! Jeez!. All we have is mud, a wet,wet sandbox...and more mud. Puddles in the backyard.

With a 19mo daredevil, a 2yo splasher, a 2.5yo roller(loves to roll around like a puppy), and a 5yo with impulse control issues....puddles and mud are not an option. . the playgrounds all have puddles & mud, too...they only did half a mulch job at the end of the season due to $$$, so it won't get fixed until the spring. ****y nuts.

Wow whats that white fluffy stuff? Is it sand? Oh no, it's that cold stuff called snow. I have heard of this thing called winter, but can't imagine being out in it. Brrrr. My grueling 3 weeks of "winter" is over already and we are back to applying mosquito repellent again. 78 here today, chilly because it's cloudy today.

                      Cute pics.

I won't let the kids out if it's less than 70*! (Just kidding) My limit for going outside to play is closer to 60*.
