Mom just told me she is leaving - just hired an assistant!

I just hired an assistant to cover a new baby that is starting in a few weeks. A dcm just came to pick up her son early - he was crying and she felt guilty - and told me she was probably going to stop coming because he really doesn't need to come and she feels guilty sending him. I just hired someone, and now I am losing a signigicant amount of my bottom line each week.

The child was crying - it was his first day back after being out for 2 weeks sick. He also is pretty manipulative, and now his parents just gave in and came to get him early, showing him that if he cries, he gets his own way.

This is a part-time family who is pretty unreliable anyway, but I am really stressed about the money aspect of this. I can't get rid of the assistant, because of the ages of the children I care for. I am so frustrated, and feel like I am cracking a bit today.

Boy, that's really bad timing. So sorry.... Hopefully you'll be able to fill the spot soon!

If she hasn't given you written notice, don't accept her probably story. They are words.

If you seriously think they will leave, make sure they give you your required notice time or pay for it regardless of attendance and start advertising today.

Wow, bad timing for sure, but the good news is that it is only temp until you find a replacement.

AND I wouldn't want to work for a family that allows for the kid to wear the pants and call the shots....
