Thank you ladies, for helping me grow a backbone. I have always had one with parents I never knew prior to watching their kids. I know, I know. Don't mix business with friends/family.
I watch a friend's daughter. She's 2 1/2. I watched the 7 year old sister when she was 3 and 4 as well. I love my friend and she is always there in a pinch if my family needs her, but she's loosey goosey when it comes to how her life affects others - she's the one who breaks my illness policy and then I send her daughter home 10 minutes later. She even paid $60 for taking an extra hour (beyond the allowed 30 minutes) to pick her sick child up.
So last Monday in January, she was 10 minutes late. The Friday prior, she was almost 10 minutes late. No call or text. No sorry for being late. I was going to charge her for the Friday, but Monday morning she showed up with her February payment in cash. (DCG comes M, Th, F) so I didn't say anything. Then she texts at 4:12 (contracted til 4:15) to see if I can keep DCG until 4:30 or 4:45. I text back, 4:30. I do have one other DCG here until then. Anyway, I documented the times but never charged.
Today she texts me at 4 PM, saying she needs to stop by the CPA and will 4:20 work. I used my whimpy backbone and wrote back, "If you don't mind paying late fees. Glad you got your taxes done
" She wrote back, "Then I'm heading to you." She seemed just fine when she got here. I was worried she'd be mad.
So thank you ladies for helping me with this. The one baby girl I have until 4:30/4:45 is allowed to go everywhere we go, so some days my girls and I run errands with her. Tomorrow she'll go to their dental appointment with us. So it does affect my day when my friend doesn't pick up on time. Hopefully she'll be more mindful of that in the future.
