At a loss with one of my kids....please help!

I have been doing daycare for 2 years licensed, and have worked at 2 other centers a long with being a PCA. I've tried everything I know how to and I just don't know what to do anymore! I have a 5 year old boy in my home daycare that has been coming here for about a year and half now. Since day one its been nothing but problems. He doesn't listen....EVER, he's mean, and its like he goes out of his way to make everyone around him mad. I have to remind him of the very few rules I have everday, and not just once, but throughout the day! I've tried; time outs, reward charts, separating him from the other children, keeping him busy, talking to him about what is expected, giving him picture directions instead of verbal directions, taking away activities, spending extra one on one time with him....everything I can think of. Nothing seems to work, and his parents don't seem to care, they take him home and from what I've gathered from talking to them, they let him do whatever. The parents have thought about getting him tested for autism, but won't go through with it. I dread everyday he comes to daycare, which crushes me, but I just don't know how to deal with him anymore. Any suggestions, or help would be Sooo appreciated! I've thought about just terminating the family, but my husband is out of work and we really need the income from this family. Thanks so much everyone!

I would get your husband on your license and assign the kid to him all day every day. The kid needs his own adult and you guys need the money.

From experiences I have had with children like this I give two months probation on the condition that they get the child diagnosed and treated. If no improvement in those two months I then give a two week termination notice. I have been in the same boat financially and everyone screams 'TERMINATE' but I am willing to work with the families up to a point. If you do terminate you will make your family and yourself happier. The other parents and children in care will appreciate you getting rid of him too. I have found help through the school district, our local resource and referral agency and non-profit organizations like United Way and Common Ground. They won't help without the parents on board so throw it in the parents lap in writing.
      I see little people.
