No Wonder Everyone Thinks My Rates Are Too High

I'm in need of child care for my two kids, ages 4 and 6,in your home. I'm looking for part time,Thursdays and Fridays only, from 8am to 5:30pm. My oldest will need a pick up from ***X Elementary school at 2:30pm. I can pay $80 cash each Thursday, when dropping off. Must be willing to fill out IRS form

Actually that would be norm for around here. My full day rate is $25 and my before and after school rate is $150 a month.

Her request doesn't seem to bad since one won't be there most of the day.

If I'm reading that right, that would be $40 a day for watching the 4 y/o all day and picking up the 6 y/o and watching him maybe 2 hours?

I only get $25 a day for 10 hours. Most people get $10 for SA. $40 a day is more than anyone here gets.

That's about right for this area, too.

It's a little low for my area. Not much though.$35/day and $15/day for before /after school.
So that would be $100 for the two days. I only do bus drop off,so if I had to pick up at school I would probably charge an extra $15 for gas.

That's going rate for my area as well anywhere from $30-60 a day with most asking $40 a day

Sounds like my rates almost to a T - in fact I have that family, ! They pay $40 or $50/day ($50 if SA is with me all day, $40 if she is in school) for their 2 kids - 1 is in 1st grade & the other, a preschooler, is with me all day. I watch them @ 9 1/2 - 10 hrs/day. I don't pick up at the school but I drop her off with my own SA children in the morning. They don't care about an IRS form but I do report their income. Pretty standard (actually in some circles it would be considered high) rates for my area of central Ohio.

I would charge $25 per day for the younger one and $15 per day for the SA. So that would be exactly my rate. I also do report my income. I don't do any transporting though, so guess I wouldn't get that job.

yeah, that would be slightly low for my area (I charge about 40-45/day) but I know many areas across the country have much lower rates.

If you divide it out it would be similar to $30/day for the 4 year old's full day and $10/day for the 6 year old from 2:30-5:30.

I guess your rates are much higher than this but to many that probably seems pretty fair.

Other than expecting the pickup from school, this would be a perfect amount for me. Basically, it's $25 for the 4 yr old, and $15 for the school age kid. That fits for me. And we have a school bus that comes right to my door, so it really wouldn't be a problem for me.
