    OMG, Chargeback!! Cost me BIG!!

Oh I could just cry right now!!! My Sister-in-law wrote me a bad check for daycare last week and it was charged back to my account causing me over $180 in overdraft fees in my own account!!!

I know it will be her responsibility to pay them but she was venting to me about her husband being out of work and only making (what she makes) an hour and how hard it is. I do understand, but it's really not my problem...I live paycheck for paycheck too (and I KNOW for a fact they spend unnecessary money).

So she casually said she will have to pay me for two weeks this Friday when she has the means to pay me back. Ugg...SURE NO PROBLEM!! NOT! My account is all messed up...I need to buy my daughter cleats for her opening day of softball this Sat. and have NOTHING for gas or anything else we may need through the week.

I know I could just say she can't bring her son until I'm paid up, but then I miss out on a weeks' pay and I don't want to do that either.

I have watched her son for about a year now and she has never bounced a check on me before, so I didn't even see this coming..UGG..just feels good to vent!!

Um...NO!!! You should STILL get paid for the week her child is out if she can't bring him because she can't pay. HER problem should not be YOUR problem!!

If she wants to guarantee she even has a spot to come back to she better damn well pay for it or you will get someone else to fill it.

    No Pay - No Stay

Call her to come pick up NOW and don't let her back into care until she is paid up - late fees and all!

ugh. Not good. This is exactly why I will not care for families' children.

I hope it gets squared away soon for you!

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I'm with Judy. They need to not come back until they are paid up in cash. You'd be amazed how fast they can come up with money when they have to to get to work. They could try borrowing from a friend or other family member, get a cash advance off a credit card, pull from savings if they have any, etc. And I would never take another check from them again. I switched to all cash years ago after this same situation happened to me repeatedly. Different families each time, so it's not like I had a habitual problem with anyone, but between 5-8 families if they even do it once every year or two, it'll seem like an awful lot. Hopefully she'll pull herself together fast and get you the money quick.

And tell her she has to pay cash from now on. No more checks. Yikes.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. Especially since everything finally just started to working out in your favor. I know it's family but I would not allow them to come back until she was paid in full. I would also charge her for the week she is out if she can't come up with the money. Also since you technically have not been paid I would charge her late fees from the due date until paid in full date. Good luck

Wowsers, but I agree that you should be paid for the time that you do not watch the kids because that was their fault, not yours. You may want to re-think your policies if you don't already get paid for times such as this if they come up.

Why do they keep them in daycare if they cannot afford it? Why can't dad watch the kids and just pay you when he has an interview or something? And, knowing Dad isn't woking, I definitiely would have said no pay, no play!
