    Are You Kidding Me???

So a friend who uses me for drop ins once in a while called and asked me if I could watch her son today.

I said sure bring him by.

She said I have to work at ten so I will drop him off at 9:45.

Half an hour goes by and she still hasnt shown up. So I go up to see if maybe she is outside and low and behold her son is just standing in my foyer all by himself. Standing there for a half hour all by himself.

Not only that, its not the right son. The one she left here is supposed to be at school. He is in Grade 1.

She just opened my door threw him in and didnt even make a peep. Not a Hi or a Bye.

I cant believe the gall of some people.

Do I say something to her? My hubby called her a twit and said dont watch these kids anymore.

ummm... I would have been on the phone with her the INSTANT I found him there and he would have stayed there until she came back for him because he's probably not in school because he is sick!!!!

      I would definitely say something.....

I would be very clear that was inexcusable, beyond rude and dangerous.....
      - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

I called her right away and she didnt answer her phone.

He is not sick either. I asked him where his brother is and he said at daycare.

I then asked him why he is not in school and he said he didnt want to go.

        Im really confused

Just wondering. Have you ever kept "this kid" before? Do you even keep school age?

of course you say something to her. WOW. honey you can't let that happen again. What if the kid wondered off, or walked back at the door after mom, ran out into the street or etc. I can think of a million things to say to that mom, none which are nice. That mom should have the book thrown at her.

I would be calling mom right now and telling her that will never happen again.

Do you not have that in your PHB that parents must make communicate with you before picking up or dropping off their child??

I would have called her immediately - since you didn't, I suggest that you call her now and demand that she come to get her son and NEVER use you for childcare again!

By her leaving her child at your home, you are liable for his safety - EVEN though you had NO CLUE he was there! If that child had gotten hurt, kidnapped, decided to walk off your property and go wherever he pleased, YOU would be liable for him.

Yeah, you should call his mother, have her come get her child and let her know that you will never watch her children again - this is for your liability and to keep you from possibly going to jail one day for what was actually her actions.

The more I get to know her the weirder she gets. I have known her for about 3 yrs.

She used to be my ds preschool teacher.

On friday i was driving through the parking lot at the grocery store and there was her youngest sitting on top of her SUV while she was in the store.

No way would I keep her kids. Something IS going to happen to her kids at some point and she is going to try and blame you. Nope, not worth any amount of money to me.

Frankly, when I saw her kid on top of the car, I would have been calling the police to find her and rescue the kid! What if a preditor had picked the kid up off the top of the car?????

How about you call her up and say why hasnt she dropped her son of yet. Hehehe. Oh and I want to be the fly on the wall when she realizes she just left him there and now he is missing.

And get this....SHE would scream on YOU if anything had happened to him!!! If you're licensed (even if you're not) she's the kind who would get your licensed revoked or get you shut down one way or another.
