How To Stop The Screaming Contests?

I have 2 18 month olds who love to try to out scream each other. They aren't upset screams just screeching screams to make noise. I have tried a finger on their lip and a shh sound and whispering soft, no yelling. I have tried time out in different areas. Nothing seems to help and worst of all it is becoming contagious!!!!!! Please wise providers share your wisdom, I seem to have lost all mine

Have you tried flicking the lights on and off? That usually gets the attention of my screamers, that or clapping my hands really loud. Then I remind them to use indoor voices only, no screaming.

have a bell handy. Years ago I had two 3 year olds that thought it was super funny to try to see who could out scream the other.

All it took was the ring of my bell. THen I have them the look and they stopped. After I got their attention I would then direct them to do something fun, sign a song and etc. I would also remind them how much it hurt my ears and made me feel so sad....

Good luck I don't miss those times....
