Tipping Over The Pack N Play?

    I have a PNP issue...

DCB is just 14 mo. But he is a big boy, I believe he's around 25 pounds or more. Lately he has been sitting up with his back up against the mesh siding and rocking back n forth, back n forth. He gets such a rhythm going that two sides of the PNP come off the ground about an inch. I've tried putting the PNP against the wall, but then he sits up against the sides and rocks... and bumps his head hard on the wall. What to do? The only way I see to make it not in danger of tipping over is to put it against the wall... do I just let him keep bumping his head against the wall?

I would say yes. He is making a choice. Even at 14 months, he can choose that! If you are really worried, get a huge piece of carboard (an appliance box broken down, maybe, and wedge it between the wall and the playpen. Is there something you can put as a weight on the other side of the playpen? My book rack immediately comes to mind. It would be heavy enough to hold the pnp in place, and I could move all the books out of reach (unless you want him to have access to a couple cardboard books, mine each get one in their bed).

I would also recommend making or buying a sleep sack, putting the zipper on the back. Climbing is probably next on the agenda. My twins LOVE their sleep sacks...mostly because I introduced them as a special gift...yay! so cozy!

Has he always rocked for comfort? If not, you might consider tweaking his nap schedule and adding in some time where he can really wear himself out. He might be doing this from boredom and not quite tired enough to actually sleep. If he has always done this and is likely to tip over the pnp, you can move him to a cot if you think he can handle that otherwise put the pnp against something so it doesn't tip. he will have to find a way to soothe himself without hurting himself. I second the sleep slack....kids that are busy during nap time sometimes turn into escapees or worse, diaper divers.
