Poor guy. I wonder if he was just really warm from sleeping or if he was dosed? Doesn't Motrin last up to 6 hours?

I haven't heard of train reaction. Chain reaction means setting off a chain of events.

Don't worry about it. English is my first language and I misspeak all the time!

Hey, don't feel stupid. You have an excuse! When I do it, I get the "oh she's a dumb blonde" look! :::: My own DH, who knows I'm not dumb, actually grabs my hair and points to it!

nope, no saying "train" reaction. That's why I mentioned it. You definitely do NOT need more English lessons 'cause you speak (or at least type ) better than most people do! It's rare for me to spot something amiss in your posts, which is part of why I mentioned it. No hard feelings!! lovethis
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

i had a response for this and something went wrong that it all got deleted...not sure if it is the site or my computer..

I was saying that I used to say yellow or gold for the word blonde...
My freinds would laugh at me and say there is no such thing.
then one day my friend took off a barbie head and said see inside, its empty.....no brains...I finally got it....

OH, honey, most native speakers don't even understand those two! I can use the correct one in the correct spot but I'm not even sure how to explain it

It's really all about context...basic uses:

I can affect the outcome of an election by voting.
I can see the effect of the wind on the trees.

Effect is a noun in that context...it's the thing, it's what you see, it's what happens.
Affect is...a verb? or maybe an adverb. Something like that.

but just to trip you up...there are more unusual meanings of those two words:
Someone with a "flat affect" has no emotion in their face/voice
Someone can effect a solution to a problem (i.e. put a solution in place, make a solution).

                    did I help at all?

im going to be itching my head for a long time on this one... but you should consider teaching english to foreigners.. My teacher is good, but even I find that she says things wrong sometimes. I think most of it has to do with where she was brought up and the fact that she talks too much....kind of like me...

:: You guys are tickling me to no end! ::

I read the "train reaction" and didn't even catch it. Like watching a train wreck! Now that's an American expression.

The chain reaction thing with the crying.. oye! I know that one although I don't have too many sympathetic littles right now. If one cries they just ignore it and keep on playing.

I'm betting the little guy IS at least getting sick and like someone said, Mama took his temp and got the last temp taken? But.. why did she take his temp? Because he was acting "off" and she thought Sick!

Please ask her to let you know if he is sick over their off time.

One of my closest friends learned here english from her american military husband. You should hear some of the words that used to come out of her mouth!! It took her a few years and a few shocked corrections to learn that some language is not for ladies! (unless they're pissed off)

hahahh that is super funny.... My ex-husband was in the marines and I can relate 100%. Lucky for me he did not talk this way, but his coworkers and friends did. I would tell them if those are the only words you know, I can teach you english....They watched their mouths really quick....
