Kid Has Fever, Oh Wait No He Does Not??

So how would "you guys", sorry made me think of that other post....HOw would all of you handle this....

This morning I got a text message at 5am from one of my parents that DCB woke up with a sky high fever and will not be here today. I thank them for keeping him home ill and hope that the DCB feels better soon.

Everything seems fine and then at 8:15 am I get a phone call that DCB never had a high fever it was only 99.1 and now it is normal and that mom will be over to drop off DCB. I question the mom on it again, going back to the first text that said it was sky high. Mom says, oh I think I read it wrong, it was early and I was half awake. I tell mom well, I will let him come, but if he has a fever of 100.0 or higher, you will need to come and get him. I did forget to mention to the mom the reminder of no fever reducer.....uuugghh

Part of me is mad at myself, Should I have allowed for this child to come?

I have never had this happen before. What would you guys have done???
Has this ever happened to anyone before?

Remember if mom chooses to keep him home it is only for today. If you take him and he gets sent home he has to stay out for 2 days. Let her choose.

ugggh, I guess I probably would have taken him too BUT I would mention to mom that he best not have had any fever reducing meds before being dropped off as that will make you not trust her anymore...kwim?

I don't understand how she 'thought' he had a high fever at 5am but then at 8am she realizes she made an error? WTF? This is the strangest story I've ever heard!!! Maybe she pressed the button to retake his temp and the last reading showed up? My thermometre does that.

I bet you he got doped. You should never have taken him, story is just too fishy. I bet you that she has things to do or she has to go to work thats why he "suddenly didn't have a fever" and if he didn't have a fever, then why did she take his temp to begin with?????

Child has a high fever, mom realized she had something really important at work she had to get done, mom gives child meds and brings him anyway with no care in the world for other peoples children, you , or other pregnant moms that they can get sick.
Been through it so many times!
My own 5 week baby ended up in the hospital for 10 days because of these kind of parents.

this was exactly my thought.... why the need to take it in the first place...

Mom did say she could not afford to miss work. I did tell her that I understood that, but I needed to look out for the best interest of all the children and that if her son is sick, that she is not helping me to do my job.

NOw i feel really silly...I have stopped being a push over and have really been putting my foot down, but this one took me for a loop....

I often wonder, what do parents do when we have to close because their children made us sick. I think alot of them don't get that, not only are they out of care, but I'm out of money because I have to close. I can see you getting caught for a loop. Its one that none of us ever heard of.

So, did he "develop" a fever later in the day? If he does, that would mean he was most likely given a fever reducer. And you would know not to trust mom in the future.

Yes totally true!! Why did she take it to begin with, he was obviously sick.....I'd be pretty ticked

im in cali, so far no fever, but behavioral issues up the waaaazooooo...

It is very obvious to me that this child is not feeling well, but with that being the only symptom, I really can't send him home. He's sleeping now and if the behavior continues when he wakes, I just might send him home. It's making for a horrible day for everyone else. Mostly my little guy because he gets upset when the other kids cry....You know that train reaction. It's like a virus. when one cries they all cry.....

                              CHAIN reaction. No offense!

Poor guy. I wonder if he was just really warm from sleeping or if he was dosed? Doesn't Motrin last up to 6 hours?
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!
