    Books?

I've posted this on another board but was interested in responses here, too.

What are some of YOUR favorite children's books?

What are some children's books YOU don't like?

What are some books the KIDS (your own or daycare kids) like or don't like?

Hi Lianne, both of these threads have some great suggestions:

I'm doing some Amazon shopping this weekend. (gift cards) I need new books to read to the kids. My kids are all around 2-3-ish age, with a couple of part time four year olds.. but, I'm really looking for books for the very little ones. Their favorite books right now are "Too Loud Lily" and "Don't let

What are your top 5 (or however many) children's books? I'm thinking picture books for toddler/preschool age. I purchased several books recently and the children LOVE them, so I'd like to pick up some more popular ones. What do you and your children like? :) ETA: Also, do you always buy hardcover books? If you buy softcover,

Personally, I love any children's books that teach a lesson. And anything from my own childhood

Has anybody ever read.."The three little pigs, what really happened?"
My daughter brought it home and I was so shocked!

Some of my favorite authors are....
        Eric Carle
        Lucy Cousins
        Mercer Mayer
        Clifford the Big Red Dog
        Dr. Seuss

The one book that I didn't care for was "The Polar Express" it was a caldecott winner.....I had to do a report on this book years ago and it made me wonder why this book was a winner I think it's way to long of a story for preschool/pre-k children.
I still have it today on my bookshelf I can't remember the last time I read it.

I like Eric Carle and Mercer Mayer too. I also like books that are interactive. I have one that every page has a animal on it and a different texture, the kids love it. I don't really have any I don't like.

I'm not looking for suggestions, but thanks anyways. I was just looking to generate conversation. This forum changes constantly that even though there have been similar discussions, I thought it might be fun to talk about books once again. If that's a problem, let me know.

The children (aged 3 and 4) are really into:
              Curious George
              Rosemary Wells
              Berenstain Bears
              Robert Munsch
              Dr. Seuss
Walt Disney (those hard covered book club ones)

I really love reading anything to the children. Plus anything that I read as a child is a bonus : )

My apologies to LittleMissMuffet, my last post came off snarky and I didn't mean it to. Sorry!

In addition to previously mentioned authors, faves here are:

Todd Parr: Love the bright colors, kid-like illustrations and the warm fuzzies.
Sandra Boynton: Too cute and fun..give the kiddos the giggles.
Margaret Wise Brown: Nothing beats the classic "Goodnight Moon"

I LOVE Margaret Wise Brown. Other favs include many of those already mentioned - the Clifford books, Mercer Mayer, Dr. Seuss, etc.

For the children I have in the four to 8 range, I really like the "Childhood of Famous American" series, the Boxcar Children, and the Wishbone books.

I think we should all get together and write our own childrens book and while we are at it why not write a book for the parents as well. Like Dr. Spock ::
Of course only a few of our clients would read it.

                            I like the pretty books.

The original Little Miss Spider books, and My mostest favorite kid's book of all time is Harvey Potter's balloon farm I loved it when my kids were little, and I put it away for my imaginary Grandkids, because I don't want anybody to hurt it. LOL. I'm stingy about those things.

Stellaluna is really good too. But, I could never understand why Stellaluna's mother wasn't more grateful to the foster Mother for taking such good care of her baby.

My kids favorite book by far is the Berenstein Bears "Into the Night" They can recite it! It's just scary enough that they love it and all yell "WHOOOO!!!" when the bears meet the owl!!!
