    Let's Talk Shoes...

Somewhat OT, but I need advice from fellow shoe experts.

My daughter has very small narrow feet and I can't seem to find shoes she will keep on and are easy for her to walk in. She is petite (17 pounds, 15 months old, walking for ~6 months now, just grew to a size "5" shoe).

She has been wearing leather soled Mary Jane shoes (with a velcro strap) from Children's Place and they were perfect for her. Apparently, they don't make the leather soled shoes any bigger than size 4. I've tried Robeek's and she takes them off with ease. I would like for her to wear thicker-soled shoes than the leather soled, but they can't be heavy at all. I can tell that she is very bothered with thick-soled or heavy shoes because she walks funny and then immediately tries taking them off. It just seems like shoes are made for kids with very very wide feet. She wears a size 5 (barely) but can easily slip her feet out of them because they are so wide (she just curls her toes out and slips them off).

I got her new shoes yesterday and spent all morning putting them back on when we were outside, but I really don't want to put her old shoes on because her toes are crammed in them now.

    Any suggestions?

Old Navy makes the leather soles up to a size 5.

Maybe she can wear Skidders? They are socks on the top and shoes on the bottom. They can be worn outside, and don't come off easy. I know they sell them at Target stores, but you definitely get them online.

Go to Stride Rite. I had the same boat when my daughter was a little. Her feet is narrow and I have trouble to find the right shoes for her. Now my daughter is an 11 year old and her feet is still narrow and her women's size 9 1/2. I have to find the right size of narrow brand names shoes for her.

When my daughter was a little and I bought her Stride Rite bare foot shoes when she was 11 months old and I bought her a lot of stride rite shoes until she was 4 years old. Keds shoes fitted my daughter too. As your daughter is 17 months old, then I would recommend her to wear stride rite bare foot shoes. I think it would be $40 to $50 but I am not sure it is the same price as now what I paid a long time ago. Hope it helps!

Go to a children's shoe store and have her measured and fitted. You pay more for the shoes but you get an excellent leather pair that wears very well. One of my girls had very narrow feet and one had very wide. I had to get measured baby boots for both of them until they were two.

I'd try Stride Rite as suggested. My boys were the opposite with wide, chubby feet. Try to get something that maybe laces up so you can adjust them or like you said, with a strap.

She is a sweet petite for sure! My boys were both 20lbs. at 5 months! (My arms looked like I had been lifting weights from hoisting them around.)
