Do you charge her even if she doesn't show up? If not I would start doing that....maybe implement a "no show" fee without 24 hr notice? I'm not sure...my hand book states that I need 24 hour notice for no shows and late arrivals. It also states that if I'm not getting the required notice that you may be terminated.

Yah, i had one like that...drop in kid whose parents were horrible communicators, had little respect, and were either no shows or late and id never know when theynwere coming. (this was prior to my using contracts and specified times on those contracts)....tje family bolted when I started using contracts and wouldnt let them do drop in anymore bc chikdnwas coming only occadsionaly and they were such PITA's and their dck really needed the routine bc he was totally out of wack..that and this dck was supposed to be ft from the get go so they were picking and choosing when they wanted to come tomsave $ but not telling me...so my contracts sent them running, darn. Lol

Id say either no more care or have a frank disvussion about them needing to pay for the day anyway if thry dont show and maybe think about doing a drop in contract where they have to give you advance notice of when child will be coming and pay if they dont come, as well as including an inconvenience fee if they are more than 30 min latenpast their scheduled time especially if they dont let you know it will be later. Explain to them how it affects you eith getting up so early if they dont come as scheduled.

            It depends..

.. is it a drop-in kid or paid? If she's paying anyway, I'd say you got up anyway so enjoy your paid free time :-) Otherwise, if it's a drop-in, that's rude.. and you should put a no show policy in place.

My hamdbook states that I will term childcare immediately without notice for 3 no call no shows.

My contract is 2 no calls/no shows and you're terminated - without reimbursement of your monthly fee. I also charge a $10/day fee to parents who don't show up or show up 30 minutes+ without calling to inform me.

                    thanks guys~!

hi everyone, thanks for your comments, that is the hole problem I don't have contracts. This is the same mom that I was scared once that she wasn't going to pay me then she showed up out of nowhere and paid me. when her kids were a no call no show last week. I am just going threw getting my liscensing and right now watching kids and i have a max of 5. and i feel if she is not gonna show up without calling me and etc. I feel I should give her the boot.
Am I allowed to do contracts before certification?

you can do a contract without licensing. you need to have some sort of agreement in writing. be prepared for her to leave though if you insist on a professional agreement. sounds like you would be better off anyway.

3 no call/no shows is grounds for termination.

And, if the parent doesn't notify me at least 30 minutes before drop off, they are charged a $10 convenience fee in addition to their normal daily rate.

I did the convenience fee for this exact reason! I was tired of getting up at 530am to let a kid in the door at 6am and they were constantly late!

Terminate services and build in a convenience fee for yourself!
