    Super Sleepy Baby...

The 5 mo took a nap from 9-10, woke up for a bottle and a diaper change, and is now fussing and rubbing their eyes like they want to nap again!

Yesterday they slept 6 hours out of the 8 that they were here!

Is that normal for this age? Should I mention it to the parents? They tell me every morning that the baby sleeps all night...

Sleeping 6 hours during the day at 5 mos of age does seem a little excessive... however perhaps he/she is in a growth spurt and needs it?

I always mention anything abnormal that happens during the day to the parents; and let them interpret if something should be done about it like a call to their ped.

Is he/she lethargic? When awake, is he/she moving arms & legs and active?

I have a five month old who sleeps from 8a.m.-9a.m,again at 10:30a.m.-11:30a.m.,then again from 1-3p.m. If she's still here at 4:30 p.m. she's ready for another nap.
She is only awake 1 1/2 hours at a time. That's her schedule.I love it,she loves it and is the happiest baby in between. So that's 4 hours. Six seems a litle excessive but what is she doing in between? Lots of tummy time? I suppose if they are not sleeping during the night they would definetely need more. This little girl sleeps from 7p.m.-6a.m.
Babies need A LOT of sleep

My 5 month old dcg is the same but was born prematurely so she is kind of behind others her age. My DS was like that though. Went down every 2 hours at that age

I wouldnt worry at all till baby is older. My own daughter slept A LOT more than her big siblings did. She is 8 months and still struggles and wants to nap a lot, thats just her. As long as baby is hitting their milestones, gaining weight and such, I would not worry about it at all! Baby also may overstimulate easily and prefer a quiet calm place for lots of down time, even if she is not actually falling asleep yet.
