I have had a DCG for 2 years now, with 50/50 custody parents. It began with just watching her every other week for her mother, and increased to every week when her dad's shift changed at work. During the mother's weeks...all runs smoothly...during her father's weeks, I never know if she will attend, or what time her father will be here for pick up or drop off. There have already been a handful of times when we weren't here because he failed to let me know when he would be here. I do have a conveinence fee in my contract for unnotified drop offs/pickups outside of normal times. However, I have not charged this because it is the mother who is in charge of payment. I have talked to both parents directly about this issue, but it didn't change anything. How would you handle this situation?

Sounds to me like the dad is taking advantage of the mom being in charge of payment. Is he aware there is a charge? Can you tell him that he is responsible for paying the inconvenience charge outside of the regular payment?- Flag

I would set up a meeting that both parents are required to attend - immediately - and lay down the law. Both parents need to be on the contract and ABIDE by it. It's unfortunate, but if one parent isn't following my rules both lose the priveledge of receiving my care... if you can't work together for your children, I can't work with you. Period.- Flag
