    Diaper Genie

Ok, so I'm thinking about getting a diaper genie. My two dck poop 2-3 times a day and boy is it stinky! You can smell it right upstairs hours after the fact. I even bought little scented diaper bags and throw them in a garbage can with a lid.
And I'll be adding another baby to the mix in a few weeks!

So my question is....do they work really well?

I had one when my dd was a baby. They are kinda cool, but they would probably be expensive if you use it alot. I put each diaper (bm) in a plastic bag and tie it, then I can throw it outside right away. Is there anywhere you can even put a little trash can with lid outside easy to get to each time?

I didnt use it for my son because the bags were just one more thing I had to buy.

I put the poopy diapers in a bag, tie it up and throw it outside. I just couldn't have it sitting in my house all day.

I suppose I could run it upstairs and just toss them outside. That's what my husband suggested (said it was a good cardio work out : But then I have to leave them unattended while I do that, and everyone knows that it only takes 20 seconds for a toddler to get into trouble, and that's the stage my two are at. I'm not worried about cost, as I can write it off.

I bought one of those air tight dog/cat food containes. They are about the size of a 13 gallon trash can and fit regular trash bags. It has a screw top to it with a rubber type band on the inside of the lid to seal out moisture and in my case smell. It was $15 at the pet store. I bought it for ds room and it works wonders.

In the daycare room I also bought that "sense n spray" so whenever I walk in there to change a kid it automatically goes off momentarily killing the smell.

I have a diaper Genie for MY own kids, and I don't even use it, because the refills are expensive and I go through them too quickly. Yes, it definitely works as far as helping to mask the smell, but it can get pricey, especially if you have a lot of kids.

I just bag them and toss outside immediately.

I'm really paranoid about my house smelling like diapers ~ I always feel like I'm so used to it I don't smell it, kwim?

it just depends on if its worth it you, the extra cost for your comfort. I have plenty of shopping backs I have them some upstairs some downstairs for stinky diapers.

I like the idea of a covered trash can. Tie it in a baggie and put it in a covered trash can until there is a good time for you to get away.

I have a Diaper Genie and love it. It can be a little pricey to buy the refills but I try to look for sales and use coupons whenever possible. It's well worth the cost as far as I'm concerned.

All of this! I have one for my daughter in her room and was also thinking about one for the daycare but she's going to be PT soon so then I'll just bring it down to the daycare when she's trained.

Costco generally has a good price on them and I stock up when they're on sale.

I do a little of each. When I can't stomach the cost at $7 per refill, I go back to the shopping bag, throw it outside immediately game. When I get tired of running back and forth, I use the diaper genie again. It does work better than anything else to keep the smell out. I tried using a regular trash bag in it and it didn't work at all

We used a Diaper Genie for our kids and loved it. Now that they are older we use it for our pets.

I use a diaper Genie and I wouldn't do daycare without it. I put it in the bathroom between the wall and toilet and on the other side of the toilet is the trash can. Pee-pee diapers go in the "Pee Pee trash" and the poo-poo diapers go in the "Poo Poo trash". Doing it this way even trained the potty-trained kids to throw the pee-pee tissue in the trash and the poo-poo tissue goes in the toilet . In other words only the poop diapers go in the diaper Genie.

I don't spend too much money on refills this way and I'd prefer to pay for the refills than have my home smell of poo-poo. I empty it out on Wednesdays and Fridays after daycare. If it's not full you just cut the "bag" up to where the dirty diapers are so you don't waste any of the lining. I love it.

My diaper genie is five years old and unless its a poopy she helps carry it out.... otherwise i have to make a run to the trash can as fast i can without letting the little ones loose

I like this idea! I'm afraid I may not have picked up on that idea and would've tossed ALL diapers in the genie I think I will get one, and I like the post where someone said they would get tired of the cost then go back to bagging them.
Thanks for the input everyone!! I say one on sale for $20 not too long ago, I'll keep my eyes peeled for it again!
