    CL Ad About Sick Kids

Know anyone willing to do this?? Poor kiddo would much rather be home with mom when sick though. But I also feel bad for mom.

I am needing childcare for when my daughter is sick. I am in a nursing program and we are not allowed to miss class for ANY reason unless we are extremely ill ourselves and have a doctors note. They will not accept anything less than that. INcluding if our own child is sick and we need to stay home with them. I know it sounds extreme but it is no lie. I am feeling a little desperate because I do not have family here and I do not think anyone would want to watch my child when she is sick. She is 3 years old and is a wonderful and sweet little girl. I pray to god she doesnt fall that ill while I am in school because I dont know anyone that will be willing to watch her. Her daycare will not accept her if she has the following symptoms: fever, throwing up and diarrhea. If you or someone you know might possibly be able to come to my home when she is sick please send me an email. I would really appreciate someone that I could call if them time comes that I need someone so I can go to a class or clinical. Please email me at the email address provided above. PLEASE NO SCAMMERS!

I keep my own daycare kids when they are mildly sick. Not throwing up sick, or some raging contagious sick, but chicken pox, strep, or other typical things I'll keep them. Especially the parents are in a program like this, because I know how hard it is on the parent. Fortunately all my kids have a backup...either Dad can stay home, or grandma is nearby.

But, NO WAY, would I take a drop in with an illness. I know this mom needs someone who's already at home, and has nothing better to do than wait around to contract a contagious disease...but, I would not put myself out there for a drop in.

I always wonder where the father, or other family is if the parents are in need of backup care. It would be sad to live so far away from my family and support group.

        But strep is highly contagious!

I feel so badly for people like this. I wonder if she's a single mom??

I do know daycares in a couple of larger cities who have a sick room. I believe they have a whole separate attendant just for the sick room when someone is in it. It is very costly for the daycare AND the parent. But in a case like this, it would be a need met. I really wouldn't want the child even in the daycare. Personally, I'd rather line up a few people who would be willing to do as the woman suggests and go to her home for the day (for a substantial fee, of course. )

It is... But, If we have no other options, I can isolate them. As long as there is nothing coming out of their body that I need to clean up, I am willing to do that.

Especially with Chicken Pox... I've never had isolation cut down on how the disease spreads, so we just get it over with.

Again, I haven't really needed to do that, because they all have a backup.

That makes sense. And good that they have back-up - I would just be so afraid my own kids would get sick or worse that I would. You sound like a very accomodating provider though :-) Don;t most kids get the chicken pox vaccine these days - I know my kids did.

And to the original poster - sorry to hijack. I wouldn't provide ill care for someone. I do feel sorry for the mom as it seems like she has no one to turn to.

Yes.. we haven't had a bout of CP in about five years. We used to get it every two years. I just kept all kids with CP because I figured we might as well get it overwith together. Now though, I think it's almost gone completely. I've only heard of a few kids with it in recent years.

Wow. You can hear the distress in her writing. How sad! I also can't imagine anyone who would be willing to be "on call" to come to her house and risk getting sick for a couple bucks an hour. Even if she paid top dollar, it wouldn't be worth it because it might be months inbetween.

I'm afraid she won't find many people scrambling to answer her ad.

I feel for this lady. I was single mom when I was in the nursing program and the same rules applied for clinicals and tests. Missing a clinical would result in failing the class. Having to repeat a class would result in getting behind years for graduation. Failing more than 2 classes and you were kicked out of the program. I feel for this lady. Luckly my daughter never got sick, but I had family that would have missed a day of work to help me out. I think the hospital in out city has a daycare for ill children. Very costly I would amagine. You can sense the desperation in this ladies writing. I hope she is able to find somekind of back up care.
