Vent-Parents talking among each other behind my back.

Just had a mom txt me wanting to discuss why state paid and out of pocket families are paying different rates, ugh. They aren't but one of my confused other families took it upon themselves to tell her that. I charge $25 a day X # of days a week child(ren) are here and this gives me the weekly rate for each child for ex) 1day= $25 2days=50 3days=75 etc. They pay the weekly rate whether their child is here or not. The state however asks me what my rate is I told them $25 a day which is the same as everyone else. They don't go by my rate though 0-under 3 hours they pay $4-$4.25 depending on childs age 3 hours is $20 and 6hrs is $30 if the child is here 30 hrs a week I believe they will pay me the weekly rate of $140 (all of these rates are the average for my area and what the state has set I have no control) but I haven't had experience with this yet so I don't know for sure. So If the child is only here say 2 hrs thats $8 for the day and the parent is responsible for the remaining $17 of the daily $25 does this make sense to everyone else or am I crazy I didn't think my rates were rocket science but apparently they are.

Tell this mom that each family is unique and has a different set of needs, therefore rates are not the same for every child. Doesn't mean they are higher or lower but simply figured out using different formulas.

    OR

If you think she will not be satisfied with that, go with "Sally, I do NOT discuss rates for others with anyone else. Your rates are yours. You can choose to accept them or not." End of discussion.

Me? I use option #2. I NEVER discuss what others pay with other parents. They can if they want but I still will not.

Text back "The Govt only reinburses at that rate. Everyone else pays higher rates because of it. Stinks doesn't it? Write your Representative and vote, please."
      - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

I would say one AND two.

My parents all have different rates based on their individual needs.

And ALL of my parents are friends or know each other from high school... thats small town living for ya. I'm sure they talk. And personally, I don't care.

Right now my group all works together.

I made them sign a disclosure stating that they would not share their rate with other people and that what we discuss is to be kept confidential. Some of them have different rates, as they refereed other families to me.

I don't know what it could possibly do for me and there really is no way to control it, but it made me sleep better at night....

I agree with CAT, each family has different needs and hours, therefore this is why each family has different rates. Let them know that no one is getting a special rate.

sorry you are having to go through this.

I don't and will not discuss what others pay me and if they want to gossip about it then that is their choice. Everyone has the same daily rate just some of them have different amounts of days they use me. I have gone over the "formula" more then once. I may, just to make sure everyone is on the same page ask the parents when picking up tonight if they have any questions concerning the new rates since this is week 1 for them and maybe say I just want everyone to understand they are paying the same as everyone else. This way the other party that is spreading this rumor knows I have had it brought to my attention and hopefully it will stop it from being spread any more.

The thing I don't get is I have given this mom papers for the daycare subsidy which apparently she has decided not to fill out yet/at all. I give all of my families the same options, rates, and amount of care. I guess this is just another learning experience for me.
