    Hey Mel....

    I'm starting!

    ..to follow your lead...

Why put it in the landfill when you can cut it up, let the kids paint on it or paste it together, then send it home so that the parents can admire it and THEN put it in the landfill?::

Not a complete success so far, raccoon girl (my affectionate name for her) decided that all the new things I put out to draw on weren't enough (coloring books, cardboard boxes, tons of paper). She takes a puzzle under the table and draws all over that instead (with colored pencil) arggg...

So, I gave her an eraser and made her "clean it off". Not mean, just said "well, since you chose to draw on a toy instead of art supplies, now you will need to fix it". She didn't do an awesome job, but I made her work at it for a good 15 minutes (she is 3).

I can't really seperate the room up, but the art area is in the dinning room, and the puzzles are in the livingroom area, so now the rule will be..the toys may not go past the rug, and the art supplies may not go past the counter.

    YEEEAAAHHHHH!!!!! happyfacehappyfacehappyface

Why spend a ton of money on paper when you can get it for free around the house!

My messy area (art, easel, sensory, sand & water table) is away from everything else, (as much as it can be) and I dont allow them to walk around with art materials, or bring anything into the art area either (without my permission...the boys love to put the cars and tractors in the playdough)

I always make them "fix" what they've done wrong as well. I think it's a great lesson in responsibility! We even have a book "hospital" for when they rip books.
