    I got a Christmas present!

One of my familes, whom I watch their 2 and 6 year old, came in with a present today.

Dad handed me a photo card and said "oh yeah we forgot to give this to you. We ran out of envelopes, but here you go".

Really? All for me? Thanks so much! This is a family that is a neighbor, and I have known personally on a "neighborhood friend" level for over a year.

Sorry, I honestly dont mean to sound so grinchy, but I am sooooo crabby this Christmas. I got some bad medical news a few days ago, and its been downhill since then. I guess I should be glad they remembered me at all.

I think because this time of year can be so stressful for everyone with all the running around, shopping, baking, crafting people tend to forget their manners - however, there is no excuse and I am sorry you are feeling under appreciated and are dealing with your medical on top of it all is even harder. Just remember you are not like that, have manners, etiquette and pay it forward- don't let their lack of judgement get you down.

I understand I ended my week with out a single parent saying 'Happy Holidays' they are so caught up in the craziness of the season.

My fingers are crossed and I wish you health and happiness for the Holidays and New Year
    Merry Christmas

Even better, their 6 year old told me
"Mom said all we had to give you was a card, because we pay you money".
      Great.

I got one present from one of nine children. I am extremely greatful for that present. It was a pair of mittens crafted out of used sweaters. Very VERY warm. And in that one gift was a card from that family.

The other seven families I didn't receive any physical gifts. But that is ok, as I know times are tough for my families. One family was thrilled to be adopted by the salvation army, one family has a parent going through treatment, a few are students and working part time single parents, and the others are just thrilled to be scraping by and able to put a few presents under the tree for their kiddos.

Each family gave me huge smiles and hugs and wished me and mine a Merry Christmas, told me to have a good weekend, and they'd see me next week. Best of all, they gave me today off.
Give a little love to a child, and you get a great deal back.

I was so blessed today, and every family told me Merry Christmas. A few brought gifts. But one text I got was the best. It mentioned being part of their family, how much they appreciate me. How safe they feel. I loved it.
