Not Even a Merry Christmas :o(

Im simply reminded that when the God of the whole universe came down to earth to be born in a manager, the only people he could get to show up were some shephards, and thats only after an angelic announcement. Meanwhile the whole Nation slept while their King cried out.Thank you. This whole crazy holiday is to celebrate the birth of a baby that didn't even have a bed to call his own. Sometimes we need to get back to the reason for it all. The reason we even expect to be appreciated is because we have an incredibly merciful God that blesses us SOOO much, that we expect that from everyone else too.
.............
Just think of all the gifts God has given us that we've never thanked Him for. And when we're not thanked or appreciated, we get a tiny glimspe of how He must feel each and every day.
I couldn't agree more!!!!- Flag

I would like to believe I am appreciated for all the hard work, love, and time I devote to my DCF's but not even one parent wished me a Happy Holiday or Merry Christmas. I wasn't expecting anything from these parents, but I am a little disappointed and at a time where I have been so sick and stressed out it would have been SO nice to get a card or a simple 'Merry Christmas, enjoy your time with your family.'
This is the first year in 10 that I haven't received anything!
Although I used to be Supervisor in a large centre, this is only my 2nd Christmas running a home daycare- Flag

And THAT'S the spirit. Who cares if THEY are inconsiderate and unthankful, at least you know you do a great job. People are so absorbed in their own lives that they fail to realize that a simple Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas can totally make our day.
You know, as strange as it seems when I feel undervalued and underappreciated I do something nice for someone and give them the opportunity to do something nice for someone else.
My DD and I have gotten into the habit of going to the store and buying 2 of something small. It only costs a few dollars (usually not more than $2 for both) and we give one to the checkout person and tell them that it's because we appreciate what they do and wish them a happy day. We ask the checkout person to then give the other item to a person who looks like they need to have their day brightened and then we wish them a Happy Holiday.
Usually it's a candy bar or something but even that small gesture sure puts a smile on people's faces. Making someone smile makes me feel happy and brightens up my day, well worth the $2. My DD loves going up and down the checkstands to pick out the checker that looks like he/she needs it the most and then we wait in their line.

Thanks all
I agree that the true meaning of the holiday is missed by many and I have been blessed in many countless ways that I am thankful for each day.
I love the idea of buying something little like that and leaving it for the cashier and someone who needs a little pick me up- people don't realize that sometimes the smallest gesture even a simple smile, well wish or hello can do wonders for the other person.
For DH 30th bday on NYE I am taking him out to do 30 random acts of kindness and this will be added to the lust- Flag
