$1.25 an hour, on call, for what sounds like a child that rules the roost?? I'll be in line right behind you. ::
Give a little love to a child, and you get a great deal back.

That is such a minimal amount of money for nearly full time work. 40 hours is considered full time, and therefore you are paying only $45 for a weeks worth of work! Isn't that against labor laws or something....

There's just so many things wrong with that ad.

        1. She won't even be able entice someone into considering it with the idea that all you have to do is be there while the child is asleep... the kid's awake until MIDNIGHT!!

        2. Too little money for too many hours. At my DC for that many hours she'll be looking at $160 a week during NORMAL daytime hours. If I were doing evening/overnight care I'd charge $180 a week and that was IF the child was asleep starting at 8-8:30pm. If the child was awake until midnight I'd charge $7.50 per hour until midnight then $5 an hour the rest of the time.

Of course in my area if she wants someone to go to her house then she's looking at $360 a week minimum and that's with someone that's not too experienced and pretty young. In my area experienced night nannies with CPR training, TB testing and criminal BG checks charge around $15-$20 an hour. That's $540-$720 a week .

        3. No child should be awake until midnight .

        4. Too little money to be available on call.

It's nice that she thinks she can find someone for that amount ... she's better off finding a SAHM that's in need of a little extra income and taking her child there.

I know when I was a nanny I was paid $10/hour. Essentially she wants a nanny for her kid, but isn't willing to pay anything to get one.

            Here's another "good" one!

"Hello. We are in need of childcare asap. I work part time and my boyfriend works odd hours. We can only afford to pay 15 a day. We would like for you to watch her in our home. We have a crazy schedule so you would have to bear with us . If you would like more info, then please respond to this ad. "

I have never understood why people think they will find someone to provide carein their home for such a cheap rate.
