    Who's Closed Jan. 2nd?

Everyone is okay with us closing Dec. 26th, but my sister-in-law of all people doesn't like that we're closed Jan. 2nd. She even posted it on FB and everyone knows I'm her daycare provider! I told her we are closed because I'm offering overnight care for New Year's Eve from 7pm-10am which will take up most of my weekend. I couldn't believe she posted that! And she even told me ahead of time, "Don't get mad at my FB status. Nothing against you, just what I would put if you wasn't my daycare." Well too bad I am, PLUS I'm your sister-in-law.

Sorry, needed to get that out or else I'd hold it in during Christmas on Sunday, even though I'm still not going to be happy when I see her.

I took Mon. Jan. 2nd mostly because ALL the schools here are still closed that day - everyone goes back the 3rd. BUT I also only took both Mondays (12/26 & 1/2) when technically I could have taken the Fridays & Mondays for each week because that is 4 of my 9 paid holidays for the year.

I'd be pissed if someone complained about it, especially my SIL. This is why I would NEVER do daycare for a family member.

I took off January 3rd. My little bro leaves for Bootcamp for the US Army and I want to take him to the airport.

I'm closed. All of my parents have the day off for their New Year's Day holiday, so why shouldn't I.

I'm not but only because I didn't think to check last year that new years day would be on a sunday. Hubby and Kids are off and I'm sure most of if not all my daycare parents are off too. I'm sure I'll still have some here atleast. We'll just make it an easy day.

Nah, we're open that day. I will probably have all my kids, but at least one family legitimately works that day
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I considered taking it off since I'm closed the day before Christmas and it IS in my policy that I have a day coming off paid for New Year's as well. However, I'm taking my vacation between Christmas and New Year's and I just thought taking that Monday off as well would be overkill.

Typically if a holiday lands on a Saturday, I take the Friday before. If it falls on Sunday, I take the Monday after.

This year, I'm taking Friday and Monday off for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years day.

I also took the 3 business days in between as my paid personal days. I notified families of my intentions back in August so they had ample opportunity to find someone to fill in.

December 23 and 26 (Fri and Mon)

                    Jan 2 (Mon)

I'm shocked that people would NOT take the 2nd off??? That's your New Year's Day holiday! If it falls on a Sunday, you get Monday. If it falls on a Saturday, you get Friday.

Not sure! I had planned on being open and all my parents knew. Come to find out this last week, my hubby has it off, my kids still have it off, and all but one parent has it off! So I'm totally thinking of closing and going from there.

I'm open. Only one of my families has it off, and one may, or may not. It's not that big a deal around here anyway.

I'm actually closed the week before that, so I'm just going to work on the 2nd and try to get some drop ins.

I'm open. I am closed the week before though. Our kids all go back to school on January 2nd and I have 5 parents who work for the school system.

Isn't it a holiday? I am certain no mail will be delivered that day, or is that wrong? My husband's work is closed & all the schools are closed, my guess is the banks/ post office is also. I would be ticked at your SIL - she needs to show some respect, geez!
