we had ours this past saturday. we decorated sugar cookies, played a bunch of games, did some crafts, santa came, all the parents brought food, and then we watched the picture slide show i make every year for them. we had a blast!
We are having ours on Friday afternoon, during daycare hours. We are going to decorate cookies, wrap their parent's gifts to take home, play a book exchange game, eat some goodies brought by parents, unwrap the presents from me, play another game and then send them home all sugared up!! :: Ok, so maybe not the last part...not completely anyways
I'm not having one because my kids are just 15-16 months old. We have the tree in the play room and the plywood Santa with a pair of flamingos (wearing scarves and Santa hats) in the front yard. They wouldn't really "get" a Christmas party anyway. One's last day was Saturday, one's is today, and they won't be back until next week, so it wouldn't have worked, even if they were older.
my plans are:
Baking and decorating gingerbread men (as well as reading the book)
Candycane ABC search (individual candycanes with a letter taped on and hidden around the room) I have a master of the alphabet and when they find a candycane we check off the letter)
Christmas Bingo
Watch a Dora Christmas Carol (While cookies are baking)
Having a gift exchange (each child has another child to exchange with)
Dance and Sing to Christmas songs
Thanks for the ideas I think I will have to steal some I feel like I'm doing the same things all the time. So these are a breath of fresh air for me and the kids.
We had a catered party for the families on saturday-just mingling. (60+people in our 100 year old school building! Yikes!) Friday we will have Santa (Mr. Magnolia) make a brief appearance and hand out coloring books, sing our songs and post video to fb, and make pipe cleaner with red and white beads as "candy cane" ornaments. Then we will stuff our pie holes with cookies and milk and go home!
