    Legos....Just For Girls!

This is kind of cool! My dcg's (and my own DD) have always enjoyed Lego's just as much as the boys....it's about time the makers start recognizing that!

Bloomberg Businessweek just published a cover-story on the new LEGO for girls line; LEGO Friends. Excellent article! Interesting and worth reading!

That is cool! At least the figurines don't look like Barbie. We visited Legoland in October and now my kids are hooked. The girls wanted the set that has a mini-fig girl and more "girly" colors, parts (flowers) all in a pink box.
(Had to laugh at the quote that the girl set was perfect for a Perry the Platapus)

There are already lego girls I don't see why they need to look like that with miniskirts and all that.

yes I have girl ones too...have had them for years...but those ones are super cute...

finally they have made more....boys have a billion different things you can build from legos, but the girls only have like two or three different sets from what I was aware of...

I'm a girl and I loved (and still love) classic legos. Not quite sure why everything in the universe has to have a pink and purple girl version. Whatev's. It's not worth my time and energy to care. And I will probably avoid them stridently and my in-laws will purchase them for my DD.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

yeah, but the ones marketed for girls before were more or less just pink colored blocks. Check out their web-site and the blocks they currently sell for girls...http://shop.lego.com/en-US/catalog/p...uestid=9340852

Me too. Thats my first memory of loving a toy. But I do wish they're would have been some feminine parts in there too. If you notice, many baby toys are in gender neutral bright colors such as turquoise, tangerine, purple, lime green...it would be great if they extended that to older kids toys. I mean, cobalt blue and forest green don't really appeal to me either, but neither does princess pink.

However I don't particularly like that girl lego person...why couldn't she have been wearing pink pants? Or not been blonde and blue-eyed? That's why we don't do barbies...smh

Yeah exactly! I'll keep buying the regular ones for my daughter. Hopefully not all the Lego girls will now be "hoochy". I think it's a good way to bring the "Barbie" girls over to Lego though.

Yeah the mini-skirt was a head scratcher for me. I read about this on NPR and the audio clip admitted it was somewhat "stereotypical". They have bigger hands "to hold handbags and hairbrushes more easily." Hmm why not Dr.'s bags or laptops?
but I like the idea of legos being more geared to how girls play and build with more emphasis on versatility and role play.

my dd is going to love them. I can't wait to go to florida again and visit lego land. This year when we went they closed lego land, my ds was so upset (considering we drove for 2 days to get to florida) I can't wait to go again, my kids will be so excited. All my kids love legos, I just got ds 2 lego books, they are big and heavy but one talks about legos and the other has all sorts of building ideas, really cool. I bought them thru scholastics.
