Yes! I had to do it for my infant dkg earlier because my ds had a diaper blow oit in his crib and needed a bath. I also did it when she was so upset and screaming and she fell asleep-turns out I was what was frustrating her and she didnt want to be rocked. I usually only take infants and I have only had ONE so far that let me put them down without freaking out.

Oh goodness, hon...YES! Find a safe spot and go pee or have a quick bite. 5 minutes is not too much to ask. Big hugs your way! Sounds like a rough day.

He just cries non-stop. Non-stop crying. All day long. I have my assistant attending to the other kids and I put some ear plugs in and have been walking him. All. Day. Long. I have a splitting headache.

              Deep breaths Hun.... ((((hugs))))

I also suggest that you have your assistant take a turn walking/rocking and let you maybe go and have some fun with the other kids you have.....

It is alright to put him down and walk away for a bit.... really it is. Hang in there..... I am praying that this will pass and he adjusts soon. For his sake, mom's, the other DCK's and most of all you!!

Have you at least set a time frame for just in case he doesn't adjust? Sometimes having a light at the end of a tunnel makes things a bit more bearable.

Thanks. I passed him off to my assistant so I could wind down for a few minutes. From some of the posts on this site I was sure I would be hell bound if I put the crying baby down.

Mom didn't disclose his colic to us before we took him. We already have his older sibling. So if I let them go, that is being down 2 kids. I have a waiting list. Of babies. I don't want any more babies. It is too hard in a setting like this. So I just don't know if I can let them go. I just honestly wonder how I ended up again with another colicky baby in daycare. My own ds was colicky for a year, I have an almost 2 yo that was colicky and now high needs, and now this baby. I have talked to providers who have NEVER had a colicky baby. So why me?!?! UGH! Just the exhaustion talking. So worn out. Five o'clock can't come soon enough!

sahm, PLEASE do not be offended, it is NOT my intention to offend you.

I think you have been under alot of stress, as you DO seem to get all the difficult ones. I am wondering if maybe the baby is sensing the stress and feeding off of it? It is quite possible that that is the case.

Is there any way you can take a break....are you (hopefully) getting some time off for the holidays? Just some time to take a couple of moments for yourself to relax?

I hope it gets better, and I hope you do not take my post "personally" as I really am only wanting to help.

Good luck and hang in there

It's so hard to listen to a crying baby all day long. I had one many years ago (he's in high school now!) who was the same way. By the end of the week, I was physically shaking. He ended up being one of the best kids after he outgrew his crying phase but OMG...I thought I was going to lose my sanity for awhile! I feel for you!

I too seem to get those types of babies. My neighbor gets the ones who go to sleep on their own in their own crib with no fussing from day one. I get CIO for weeks with no solutions.

                      Good Luck to you.

I have been under a lot of stress, but truth be told, I was excited to get a newborn! He very well could be feeling my stress now, but that sure wasn't the case in the beginning. I just so wish he would let me wear him in the sling or wrap. He hates them. I would gladly just snuggle him and then slowly transition him to being held a little less, but he is so miserable. I get a 4 day weekend next weekend. So that will hopefully help. My husband keeps telling me that there are reasons why each child ended up in my daycare, so I am trying to figure out why, if he is indeed right. I am trying so hard to give everything I can to each kiddo, but we have not been able to do anything special because of all the time this one baby is taking up. And the poor kids seem out of sorts with having to listen to the constant crying. I took the baby upstairs to give everyone else a break, and it did seem to help the other kids, but with 10 to 11 kids on her own, she can't do the projects alone with them. Hopefully we figure out a groove soon.

Awww.....that's REALLY tough. I wonder if there is an underlying issue with him that is causing him to be in distress? Poor little guy, and poor you!

Have you tried a bouncer seat that vibrates? Or, does he like a swing at all? I don't use them, but I sure would try if it meant saving my (and everyone else's) sanity!

I hope you come back from holiday break well-rested and to a newly HAPPY baby, wouldn't that be a GREAT Christmas gift?!

Take care....and don't be afraid to vent...you NEED it!

Well, today he doesn't seem as intense like something is bothering him, other than gravity, but each time we have had to lie him down, as he feels himself lower, bloody murder screaming. Is that normal??? He has been here 3 hours, and we have put him down for about 5 minute of that or all he!! breaks loose. I will give it 2 more weeks. I can't do this long term.

Oh yes, the effects of gravity :: I have had babies who do the same thing.

I think that this is probably just his temperament. This is one of those cases that you're probably going to HAVE to let him cry, alone

I would lay him down, somewhere safe but where he can see you, let him cry and busy myself with the other children. Try to ignore the crying while working with the other kids, but reassure him every once in awhile. It's OKAY for him to cry, as long as he is being visually supervised.

Ugh, I hope it passes soon for you....I know it frazzles the nerves.
