Read The ODD Thread And Something Clicked

I don't really know much at all about ODD but I read the thread someone else posted and I'm wondering if my little guy that I've been posting about (that is now two weeks from his last day here..I gave notice Friday) has ODD. He has major anger issues and after reading that it reminded me that mom told me a few weeks ago that her older daughter (age 10) was diagnosed with ODD. Is it something hereditary? Does anyone know more about it? And should I suggest that to the mom and maybe suggest ECI now?

Based on what I found out, (1 of my 4 children have it) it is not hereditary. It is just another fancy name for a child that has behaviors. Most doctors won't prescribe meds for it. They have only suggested counseling and say she'll outgrow it.

That's kinda what I was wondering if it was a fancy name for bad behavior. I hope this little guy outgrows it. Big sister has been kicked out of at least two after school programs that I know of in the last year or so. I think she just goes home and stays alone now but I'm not for sure.

Like I said in the other post ODD can also look like ADHD so maybe suggest to the Mother he be evaluated by a pshyciatrist.

My friend, a psychologist, said ODD is way over diagnosed, and the true diagnosis of ODD is akin to borderline sociopath. You'll find doctors who will diagnose it though, just like a doctor will label a child with anything.
