    Who's Got A Cell Phone?

I just joined the rest of the world and have gotten a cell phone. My husband is convinced my life will be immeasurably more enjoyable now...of course, he is a Blackberry addict himself so I'm not sure I can trust his word. LOL.

I got a Samsung Galaxy S Glide, so have access to android technology. Does anyone have any apps you use for your daycare?

How do you use your phone in relation to daycare? Do you have any guidelines for parents?

This is all new to me, but I know many providers find a cell phone to be a great asset to their business, so I'm hoping to discover how.

I have an Iphone and LOVE it! It's great for getting last minute e-mails from parents and taking pics to send to parents in an instant. I take it on outings and have the emergency contact list on there for all the kids.

I don't let the kids use any apps though, but my daughter uses a santa app and a fish app.

        Who's Got A Cell Phone?

I thought that was a trick question. Here, that's like saying "who has a car".

Many don't even use a land line anymore. Glad you've finally joined the club although I am biased toward iPhone. I have an app that allows my phone to take 360 degree pictures. When viewing the picture, you use your finger or mouse to turn/move the picture and it feels like your standing in the room. Would be a great way to show your daycare in online advertisements. Its called

Check this one out that I made a few days ago while hunting in Tule Lake:

I have a crackberry and I use it all the time!

I have my facebook app on it and fandango, etc.

Oh, I do use it for the daycare too ::
When we are out on field trips, we send them pictures of their angels instantly or we text them something neat or cute that their child said, in case I forget at the end of the day or I'm too busy.

I have a tracfone. I never remember to turn it on. no one knows the number. It''s for emergencies. I don't send parents pictures, text them, facebook, email them. sometimes parents call me but mostly we just talk to each other in person. I am so behind times!!!

When I view to look down how come I can't see your feet? LOL

I have a cell phone I opened up just for daycare. I've had a cell phone for about 8 years I'm guessing. Daycare parents don't even know that I have a personal phone so I'm not even telling them it's the daycare phone. I'll just keep it to myself. If people ask, I don't text message much---I do, but not on my daycare phone--so they are not allowed to text me. Phone calls are what phones are meant to be used for.....calling. I always have just a basic flip phone. I will not go to using the internet or applications on a phone until I'm forced to my society and technology availability. I have a laptop for the internet and a cable tv for tv and that is how I like it.

I have a HSC phone, we turned off the internet (we called the company and made sure it was completely turned off) because my kids would charge it up like crazy but it has wifi which is really all we need. We have free texting, in and out going. Its great cause dh and I text back and forth instead of calling and talking to each other, esp. when he's at work so if he needs to tell me something he just texts me. Now I did get the phone for my odd (she's 13) and next year she's going to highschool, I just wanted to make sure she can call me whenever she needs too. My mdd (she's 11) has a telus pay as you go texting phone, she brings it to school because apparently the principle doesn't let them call home if there is an activity after school and they want to stay, they have to go home, so she carries it. I have no idea what the phone numbers are. Oh on my phone I have a facebook button

I badly wanted a smartphone to use for daycare until i got my Nook tablet this weekend. Now this does all but texting, calling, and taking/uploading photos.

I do not have a personel cell phone right now, but I don't need one that much. I would still like one though, for the reasons mentiones above.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I have a tracphone too. I'm not a phone person-never was. Probably the only 14 year old girl in America that didn't spend hours on the phone. We finally bought the pay-as-you-go phone when we had an old classic Corvette. It was gorgeous, but not something you wanted to take out without a way to call for back-up. Over the years, my grandkids got old enough to text or call, and we used it more and more. The only time we ever used up minutes was when my granddaughter was grounded from her phone, and when she came to visit from out of state, I let her have my phone to text her friends. Grandma's privilege.

I have a tracphone now just for daycare. I use a lot of minutes because my mom's have erratic schedules, requiring a lot of communication to keep us on the same page. I would love an iphone, but I just can't justify the expense vs the amount of use. I just love gadgets! I want apps.

That's awesome thanks Michael. I just downloaded the app and now I'm going to test it out. Too bad it's raining here, I'd love to try it out outside.

I just came back to this thread looking for the link for the iPhone PhotoSynth.net app and saw that you had commented and that it was raining. You know I was getting the same rain here. I only live 20 miles from you in Moorpark.

I want to try to get a 360 of my house Christmas lights and an inside one of the tree and decorations to send to relatives.

Let me know if you need any tips on using it. Its not easy at first but you start to get an idea on the best way to "stitch" the photos. Environment shots are easier then close room shots, etc. Different techniqes for different shots.

I do have a cellphone but really, really wanting to get rid of it. There are many more technology based things in my life I would like to get rid of also. Call me old fashion, vintage, old-careful with that one though-, I just want to slow wayyyyyyyy down with life lately.
