    Cribs

Can anyone tell me a crib they've bought that are compliant with new federal crib safety standards? I need to buy all new ones. I would like a folding option or just compact.

If I am not mistaken ALL cribs that are manufactured after June of 2011 are now compliant with the new regulations. I have also heard that each new crib manufactured after that date will include a certificate of compliance so you know it is safe. I think this goes for non-standard size cribs as well.

Does that crib come with a certificate? Is that one new enough?

On the bottom of the link she posted (in the crib description) it says "JPMA certified".

I think that means it is ok to use http://news.consumerreports.org/baby...ification.html

          Hope that helps

Yes what Blackcat said. They're all within safety standards now. It's illegal for cribs that don't meet the new standards to be sold or manufactured so as long as you don't buy them used you'll be okay.

If you do buy used then that's a whole different story. You have to first make sure that the crib meets the new safety standards by getting the make and model number of the crib and contacting the manufacturer. Once they've established that the crib meets the new standards you have to make sure that they send you a certificate or letter that identifies the cribs make and model numbers and says that it does meet the standards. The make and model numbers have to match the numbers on the crib and you have to keep the letter on file until you sell or throw the crib out. Too much trouble if you ask me. I hear the process can take weeks.
