I have an 18 month old DCG who thinks she is just the ultimate princess when she comes here. She just marches around like she owns the place, will not let me hold her hand to guide her somewhere, screams if she is not the first to be let out at nap time (from her pnp). Anyway, we've been working on it but I found something that works great for her. The last two days I have made sure that she is always at the back of the line, the last person to get something, the one who has to wait and follow at all times (even behind the 7 month old) and boy has this really helped! Today she waited patiently in a chair while everyone else got a diaper change first and then when it was time to go upstairs, she waited to go up last and came upstairs meek as a lamb. At first, I thought maybe this would be too harsh to purposefully make her last but I think I did the right thing. Of course, she always has her needs met, she is just the last one if there is some sort of group thing....like everyone going upstairs together. I have had quite a few "princess attitudes" over the last few years but this one has been the worst. Only child to two doting parents and a huge close knit family where she is the only grandchild as well so we have a lot to fight against with this one. She is very confused and then super angry when she ever hears a no but she is coming around. Its exciting to see progress and see how sweet she can be when we get rid of the attitude. She played so nicely, did not touch anything she wasn't supposed to or need any further instruction or reprimand for pretty much the whole day.
