You know a fellow childcare provider is calling if...

you answer the phone and they say...Miss ***x, this is Miss ***xx (using our first names)
I get so tickled at my provider friends who call me and do this. I haven't been doing it long enough to call myself Miss to everyone yet I guess.

Do most people go by Miss ****? I don't like that. Mine are just starting to talk, and I refer to myself just by my first name. One parent calls me Miss, but I'd really rather she didn't.

On a funny note, my 2 talkers call me Momma. They aren't really calling me Momma, but my name is only a couple of letters different, so their version sounds like Momma. If you listen carefully, the inflection is just a bit different, but people still look at me funny at the store. (I have a great-grandson older than my dc kids).::

We are all "Miss" where I work.

They also refer to us all as "Teacher". I'm not really a Teacher (not certified) but more or less consider myself Mom away from Mom.

My kids call me Miss but I do not expect the parents to call me Miss..and would probably feel uncomfortable if they did. I certainly do not want to call them Miss or Mr. But I feel like my provider friends expect me to call them Miss too and here in Texas we are a little more informal than that so I do not call them Miss. But it's so funny when they call me...Everytime it's I'm Miss ***x. Even at our daycare association meeting when everyone introduces themselves to all of us adults there they introduce themselves as Miss ***x.
I guess they are used to it and it's just a habit? Surely they don't expect everyone to call them that?

I just go by my first name. It's short and easy to say. "Miss" makes me feel like I'm 100 years old.

I'm LOL that grown-ups refer to themselves and their peers that way!

I prefer my first name from everyone. If you're going to take a title to it then I prefer 'Mrs. Lastname'.

I am Ms. ****** always. ALL my DCK call me this and so do their parents.

When I am around my friends children or my Bfs niece they call me Ms. ****** and their parents refer to me as Ms.

I see it as just like 'aunt ******' it give the kids a special name to call me because I have a special role in their life...

THANK YOU!! That's how I feel too. I'm not 30 yet and I think even when I'm 40 I'll feel like a dinosaur if anyone calls me Miss anything. My cousin is my DD's godmother and for kicks she calls me Comadre and I HATE it. I feel like an old gossipy woman when she calls me that
