    Babysitting For A Wedding Reception?

One of my dcm is getting married. She asked me today if I would join forces with her other daycare provider (she has a younger baby and I only take preschoolers), to provide babysitting services at her wedding. (It's a no kids allowed reception.) How much would you charge per hour? She wants to build it into her budget. I'd have probably 6-8 kids that I'm responsible for on my own. Thanks!

I did this as a nanny before. I charged a flat rate of $125 for a 5 hour reception. I was also topped by the parents ($5-$10 per kid).

I do drop-in childcare on weekends from time to time for $5 an hour and a minimum of $20 per child.

If I were you I would charge this plus a bit more if I were to have to this outside of my home. I would factor in travel time and mileage and require specific start and end times... but that's just me. I would also think about whether or not I would have to provide toys and equipment. If I was supplying these then I would charge a bit extra for the labor of loading and unloading the equipment and then having to put it all away again in my daycare.

If I were doing it in my home then I would only charge what my regular rate is per child and leave it at that.

That's so funny that you say this because I was thinking of doing this EXACT thing for my wedding next year . There is a room off to a side from the reception hall that I was going to turn into a kids room but I ended up deciding on using the space for the bar instead .

I did this last year for 8 kids. I charged $250.00 for the day. it included 8 hours of care. anything past that the parents had to pay $6.00 an hour per child.

It was less than what I would make on an average day if full, but it was a favor.

After hours? On a weekend? Is each parent responsible for paying you? I'd make it worth your while. $10-$12 per hour per child is the going babysitting rate around here. That's what I'd charge.
