Every few years I help the kids make an ornaments with their handprint - I paint their hand white and they put it on an ornament(usually red) Then I turn their hand into 5 snowman - put button dots for buttons and a hat on the head - One year I did a santa hat, another year I did a top hat - Really cute.

over the weekend one of my dcp posted a pic of the family decorating their tree and saw the ornament on it So glad they kept it

besides the hand and foot print ideas.....any other ideas for the wee littles? I feel like I go over board with the hand and foot print crafts, would like to try something else. It's hard when they are under two

The kids and I are going to make Cinnamon Applesauce ornaments. You roll the dough out, use cookie cutters then bake them like cookies. We'll use gingerbread men/lady shaped cutters and each child will make one man/lady for every member of their immediate family. The next day the kids can decorate their family of ornaments using buttons, sequins, pompoms, glitter, etc.

This will be our parent gift this year.

I just did these two days ago, but never read we were suppose to bake them? I read it takes 2-3 days to air dry. My kitchen still smells nice! I'm just going to hang mine with ribbon, not decorate them. They're only about 3 inches big.

Doesn't the cinnamon cost a small fortune? I've looked at these several times but never went ahead with them. They look yummy and I can imagine the smell...it was just the cost for me. Although I was always thinking of doing them as a craft not a gift.

I can get a pretty fair size size jar (2.3 oz) at WM or Dollar General for 50ยข.

This site has some really cool and fun homemade ornaments: http://familyfun.go.com/christmas/ch...erland-671482/

Alot of them seem to only require the minimum materials and seem fairly simple to make.

We have a store here called the Bulk Barn. You can get thousands of food items in bulk, you scoop it out, including cinnamon. It's never been so expensive that I've hesitated using it for a craft.
