Browsing the ads on care.com, I came across an ad from one of my current families. I am certain it's them...names and their weird schedules are included. I can't say I am surprised, as I have been butting heads with this family for quite sometime now. So what would you do if you knew a current family was actively looking for a new provider?

well it could be awhile until they find someone. they could also put some feelers out there and then realize that your setup is still the best option. I personally would not say anything for now. I would make sure they are up to date on payments, and get your paperwork together should they announce they are leaving in the next few weeks.- Flag

Start advertising and replace their slot.
Once you find the right family then give notice.
Provide excellent care in the meantime.- Flag

I totally agree with the above. Don't stress.
I once had a current family answer MY craigslist ad.They didn't know it was me, and had never indicated that they were unhappy (after a year and a half!). I stressed about it at the time and now I realize that it was a waste of my time and emotional effort.
Look at it as a blessing!- Flag

One thing that I have learned is that as hard as it is, don't always take things personal. Sometimes we have to put the shoe on the other foot and remember what it's like to be the just the parent.
Parents need to do whats best overall for the family. Which might include having to change daycares. I have lost families that had to move to other daycares, because I didn't offer something they wanted. I was a little upset about seeing the kids go, but WE are not super hero's and we cant possibly meet every families need at every moment.
We also don't know all of the inside details of whats going on in each families life outside of the daycare.
If it were me, I would tell the family and ask them what's up. Because if it was something that I could fix and maybe they are too shy or embarrassed to ask you to help them.
Again, there could be a million different reasons why they are looking for care else where.
You have two choices.
1. Do as Nan suggested and fill their spot
2. Communicate with them and see what's going on.
Best of luck, I know these situations are never fun- Flag
