We Have A Line Of Reasoning!

For those who were just as stumped as me on Thursday about my dcm's random announcement of her dwi, I finally saw her this morning and she brought it up again as she was taking off dcg's coat. She said that she figured out her car thing and isn't as scared about it anymore. I told her how confused I was and she explained that about every 6 minutes she has to take a breathalizer or else it will shut down and she'll have to pay about a hundred bucks to get a new system with a mark on her record. At first she was very freaked out that if she left her car for even a second she would miss the test so she was in a rush, but now that she has a better idea of how it works she can relax a little bit.

Gotcha. So there ya go. I know it's not very daycare related, but I wanted to give you guys an update to let you know that dcm isn't drunk in the mornings and isn't trying to get out of paying me.

Ah what a simple thing like talking
"God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.'"
        Acts 13:22

Wow, interesting. And yep, makes more sense ... but like she couldn't have called before she left her house? I would've just called the DCP and explained it calmly and could've taken my time about it before I left my home.

OR ... er ... better yet, just turned my car off completely when I dropped off my child and just avoided the entire "having to explain" part of everthing.

Does she even have to do it while driving? The ones I've seen (not me personally) but through dateline/Oprah/shows like that they usually have to blow in them to start the car and to stop it. Never saw one to keep it running-interesting.

I think what someone said earlier is that the purpose is so that they don't leave their car running while they go into the bar to trick the system. She drives an SUV so maybe she just doesn't want to waste the gas turning it on and off. But hey. I got that answer, I'm good to go!

We ran into a guy my husband went to HS with at a mutual friend's wedding. He had gotten into trouble several times drinking and driving so they put a similar system in his car. It prevented having a sober person blowing in it to start up the car so that the intoxicated person could continue to drive under the influence.
