    days off

I take one week off a year...I have not taken a week off this year so I told the parents I am taking the last week off in December...A new parent seemed a little upset but I need my time off too. I don't charge them for their vacations or days off...I have 3 families that use me so they can go to school so that week I would have been out those 3 families anyway because they were off for college/holiday break so I figured it would work out fine I am soooo excited to have a whole week off...its been a long time...last year I only took 3 days off not even my whole week, boy its going to be nice and relaxing

My PARENT HANDBOOK lists that I will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and December 26... but.. I also recieve funds from an assistance program.. the majority of my current clients are on this... and.. They pay me 2 days... BUSINESS DAYS.. for Christmas.. so.. I will be Closed Friday, December 23.. and Monday, December 26... For the New Year.. I will be closed Monday, January 2.

I am closed Thursday Dec 22- Tuesday Dec 27.

I usually close the entire week of Christmas but with it falling on a weekend this year I split the vacation days into two weeks. Normally when I take the week off, I get 5 days but only taking 4 days off leaves me 1 extra day to close at a future date.

I'm doing the same thing...and I cannot wait! It's been in my contract since last January and it's paid happyface.

I am not taking any days off. Christmas and New Years fall on weekend and those are my days off. I am hoping that a few of my non medical field families will take off and keep their kids home, but I dont know yet.

Well, I was worried I was taking too many days off, since I am also closing the friday before christmas week for my sons school trip. But I think it should be fine. Now, I just have to decide if I should take any days off for New Years Eve and New Years, I have them listed as paid holidays but they fall on the weekend too...

I originally told my families that I was taking Friday and Monday off PAID and Tuesday off unpaid. But I think I'm going to change my mind. I don't think I really need 5 days off.

Well, my first two kids from the same family start a week before Christmas. LOL. They know I'm closed 2 days and that it is paid, but they said they are leaving town anyways. I would rather be closed working up to the holiday to relax and slow down and really enjoy the actual day. So I think I will close Thursday and Friday since I get the equall amount of paid holidays post or prior the actual holiday. Then I would be open Monday.

What I just realized is chances are the family I watch will not travel home on Christmas Day so that would technically give me Monday off paid since I don't give out client vacations. :: I'm thinking when it gets to be about 2-3 weeks before Christmas I'll advertise for drop in on Monday only because so many of you guys are closed Monday I bet it's the same here where parents need someone for Monday until their daycare opens again Tuesday. ::

I'm glad someone asked this question I will have to type up my closed dates (I already have the 10 holidays typed in the handbook), but I need to put down the actual day so I can give it out at interviews for families.

I'm taking Dec. 23-January 3 off. Most of my families are off and I only had 2 true working days during that time so I decided to take the whole thing.

Probably Friday the 23 and monday the 26 for Christmas, only have two so if either or both go out of town for any reason, not likely, then may get another day or something in there. I will also take Monday after new years off per my handbook..I plan to enjoy my newly appointed days because they are not so prevalent come spring and I will have a psychotic semester as will my hubby come spring..not looking forward to it I.
