    Ever Had To Explain This ?

    I had a conversation with a parent last week that went something like this.

    P: We are going to use our free vacation week in a few weeks.
    me: ok
    P: but the kids will still be coming
    me: hmmmm - the free vacation week is for when you are on vacation and the kids aren't going to be here. If the kids are here, you need to pay.

    Never in 6 1/2 years of doing daycare have I had to explain what the free vacation week was - No where in my contract does it say a free week. It is always followed by vacation.

    And I am 100%sure this parent woud never go to work if she knew she wasn't going to get paid to work so why should I?

              Wow... something new comes my way.

              Is the parent off work that week?

              She prolly thinks she gets a free week when SHE takes vacation. That's a vacation from her job and her kids.

                      Maybe it's a trend.....An odd one at that but I swear someone just posted this same thing in another thread.

                      I commented on it and I remember Catherder did too.

                          No she said she has no PTO left so they can't 'take a vacation' I said you don't have to use it.

                                      A new all-time low for parents!

                                      I cannot stand parents who take vacation and still bring their children to daycare to begin with... so she certaintly would have heard me laughing out loud at this one.

                                      I don't offer unpaid vacation time to my families... and this is just another reason why I never will!
