    O.........k...........

So this morning, dcm drops off dcg and I'm going about my business in the kitchen, as dcm always takes off the girl's shoes and coat and things. Well dcm says to me, "um, do you mind if I just drop her off today? I got a dwi and can't afford to leave my car running idle."

What?! haha! I was like, um, k. This is an absolute angel family, and I didn't find the request to take off dcg's things rude or anything. I was just dumbfounded that she felt the need to tell me that she got a dwi! WTH?!

Any clues as the line of thinking here?! I'm still laughing at the randomness of this morning! ::::::

Probably because she knew it would be published in the paper.

She may have rehearsed it many times in the bathroom mirror, and just wanted to get it over.

I would have just crawled under a rock.

That's the weird thing. She was laughing about it! I honestly couldn't tell if it was nervous laughter or if that was her laughter. She's usually a very private person. I think she and her husband divorced and I was never informed. I just get little tidbits from dcg about daddy living somewhere else. Idk. It was just so weird!

What does her car idling have to do with her DWI? I get the thinking about saving money but really?!? That is odd and what an odd way to announce this.::

Wonder if she has a license? Maybe she didn't want to take the chance that someone would drive by an see her driving so she wanted to high tail it out of there before another parent came and let the cat out of the bag. !?

        It is funny though! ::

Soooo, if she had a DWI, why is she driving? I thought drivers licenses were immediately taken when arrested.....

                    YEP!

She threw it out into the open because:

A.) She needs you to do more than you already do.

B.) She is going to have a uphill battle to fight and you are going to be low man on the totum pole. (Fines, tickets, insurance, court costs, attorney fees, courses/classes, etc)

C.) She needs you to keep a secret...especially if she's driving while suspended.

If you are licensed, I would suggest contacting your licensor and asking if you are able to release a child to a parent knowingly driving while suspended or barred. I wouldn't want that liability if something happened....

Why not turn the car off

Maybe she has one of those things installed in her car that she has to blow in and that has something to do with the car being idle for too long? I don't know but it is such an odd way to just casually drop that in there .

Yeah. I was thinking she could turn her car off too. Who knows. I've had this family for over a year now. I've never had to ask for my paycheck. They obey every rule and policy I have. They arranged to have their daughter picked up early on Tuesday so I could go to my son's conferences by myself. I'm not worried about her having money troubles with me. Not at all!

If she is the one who picks up today I'm going to ask her to clarify just what the heck she was talking about while laughing because it's just so odd! People! ::

I still think they need to find a way to not allow the doors to lock when the car seats are buckled

I used to work with a guy who had multiple dui's. Up until his 4th one, he always had permission to drive to/from work. He only lived a mile away from work, so he didn't even need to drive, but always managed to get someone to drop him off at home.

She probably was embarrassed that she even had to bring it up, and was babbling to make a quick exit. *shrug* Maybe because she may need you as a character witness for court, or because she will have an odd day here& there for appearances. AND it will be in the paper, like someone else said.
