Potty training girl won't talk to me

Mom brought her in pull ups this morning, saying she did really well using the toilet over the weekend. I worked with her last week, and she didn't go at all. I'll ask her if she has to go, and I get a blank stare. Then we go in there and try, and she just sits there. If I ask her if she's going, or say anything, all I get is a stare.

What can I do to encourage her to communicate with me and use the bathroom? She normally talks a lot, but not with this. With the other kids here, I can't ask her every half hour and go in there with her.

She's the first DCK I've had to help potty train, so I'm new at this!

I would ask mom how she worked with her over the weekend. Chances are she did take her every 30 minutes and you can't do that. I would definitely be asking mom questions. Potty training is hard unless they are ready to tell you they need to go on their own. Sounds to me like mom wants her to be ready and maybe she isn't

I don't do the potty thing unless the child can come to me and tell me they have to go pee. Me taking the child to potty at scheduled times does not IMO constitute potty training.....the child has to know what is going on first and that needs to be taught by the parents.
